Threads and PTFE does not work. (Not for me anyway) They are grooves. Very important difference. Hi destroyer2012, I am curious to know how you seal the joint between the acorn nut and the bolt? Do you manage to get a solid tight lasting seal? When I tried some time back, with PTFE tape on the threds it still leaked after a while.Don't think the tape liked the heat. Regards Janby IceMan - General
Hi destroyer2012, Yes there are many ways of doing this. And you are correct in that it is easier to drill an acorn nut which I mention on my blog but, I tried the acorn nut trick and find it too fiddly with anything that has a thread on it. I find the PTFE tape (on the threads) is a pain to use and was looking for a solution that has as few joints as possible. One joint only after the filament eby IceMan - General

Hi, The process of making each part is explained under my first hot end design. Every single menu has got info. Top menu as well as all sub menu's. Click on each and it should open up. This is where there are more details on how I made the brass: Hot-End :by IceMan - General
No, I just use stock standard materials. So far working great. Normal solder that you can get anywhere. Regards Janby IceMan - General
Hi, Received my sample yesterday and did some test print today. The colour is very nice, bright and does not change from the filament colour after it has been extruded. Strong and I did not have to make any changes to my setup going from black to yellow and then purple. Did some small parts (as my printer is very slow). They are strong and no unusual odour or smoke etc. I did not notice any diffby IceMan - Australia, Melbourne RUG
Hi everyone, I am fairly new to this, but have been reading a lot on this forum and ended up making my own printer based on the Wolfstrap. I have also made all my hot ends from scratch and they work quite well. Just made a new small version without a fan and it is working very well on my machine. Just thought I like to share my design with you. It is the way I make the brass nozzle/barrell attacby IceMan - General
Hi Tom, I have built a Wolfstrap based machine myself and decided to make everything myself if possible. The machine works very well. I also made my own hotends, without the need for a lathe. And they work very well as well. If you want any info on my setup/build here is my site/blog. MyBlog Printing ABS I think you almost certainly need a heated build plate. I made one very cheaply. Works fineby IceMan - Australia, Melbourne RUG

Hi, I am new to this, but during the build of my own 3D printer I had a lot of little problems to sort out on the way. If you have checked nopheads suggestions and that is not the problem, maybe you have the same problem as I had.(provided you use ramps and sprinter firmware) I have found that using the Mega 2560, Ramps and Sprinter firmware I had a very similar thing happening to my Y axis. Hi, I have been following this forum for the last 4-5 months, and thought I should probably introduce myself. My name is Jan (male), I am located in Adelaide and discovered RepRap by chance in Oct\Nov 2011. There was a program on TV about Adrian Bowyer and his RepRap printer. I was instantly hooked and have been visiting these forums almost every day since. What a fantastic forum. I decided to bby IceMan - Australia, Perth RepRap User Group

If you want lubricating oil then try Tri-Flow. It is very good and I have used it for years servicing old printers and other machines. You get it from bike shops at around $15. (It is good for bikes too ) Cheers IceManby IceMan - Australia, Melbourne RUG
