Anyone using a Wades extruder with an all metal j-head nozzle? If so, what mount are you using for the bearings and proximity sensor?by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Never mind, I got it figured out. Made my own from aluminum stock and spare parts. Thanks anyway.by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Yes, where? I'm in on that one.by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Not a good place for PLA! My fan is working fine but I was doing a 5 hour ABS print and I think it just got too hot. That's why I'm looking for someone to print the parts for me in ABS. Anyone? I'll pay a reasonable fee!by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey fellas, I need some assistance. Tonight, I finally got around to printing replacement Migbot parts in ABS. During printing, the extruder stepper started to click and stopped feeding filament. I ended up breaking it down to find that the spring loaded tension pulley arm, (technical term?) that presses the filament against the spur gear, had split in half. I'm out of commission! Is anyone williby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
QuoteIceman086 They do ship internationally. For a 3/8" diameter rod with 0.500 pitch threads its $10.31 per foot. So about $33.85 for a meter (roughly 3.2 feet) before shipping. Their website is really simple to find things on. Here is the link to the torqspline page though. **EDIT** I posted that from my phone and forgot to add in the link to the Roton page. Sorry about that! Here are 2 linkby jbehan - Developers

QuoteRRuser Try PET... it does not warp at all, and has no smell. I'll have to take a look at PET, is it similar to printing ABS?by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
gatorNic, you rock! Thanks for the advice, it worked like a charm. No separation of layers, no corner melting....awesome. Thanks for helping me over that little hurdle.245 C nozzle - 110 C bed and no fan. Joshby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
gatorNic, Tried again at 245 C and it's better but still had some separation of layers, makes sense about having no fan. I will give it another try tonight without fan. I haven't taken the temp inside my enclosure but I haven't had any warping since I started using it. My enclosure is just some 1/4" foam sheet (FFF foam from HD) taped together with aluminum tape used for duct work. I'm trying toby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
I will try a higher nozzle temp, I think I'm at 240 C already, will bump it up 5 C. I do have an enclosure in place and I've been using a bed temp of 110 C, lowering to 90 C after 1 mm. Are you doing anything with the cooling fan? Thanks for your feedback. Joshby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Ugh...dang ABS, why can't I print it as well as PLA? Getting nice looking ABS prints but they can be pulled apart, how do I get the layers to stick? FYI: I had an ABS print that took a couple hours to complete, de-laminate on a few layers so I clamped it (layer compression) and wicked in some thin CA adhesive. Worked like a charm! Quoteevetanlm Hi Josh, here is the pump, hehe. It's beautiful, you are an artist.. Hi Everyone, I have a question, I have just get a E3D V6 extruder, right now the extruder is fix on my migbot but the issue is it reverse, should be extruder but now it retruder, can anyone advise me on this. QuoteYakuza Josh have you check to make sure the belt pulley isn't loose? Its sounds like that would be the cause. Check all of them to make sure you have that out of the way. I checked all belts and they are tight. Everything is running smooth when I manually exercise the X/Y axis bearings. I did notice some slop in one of the Z axis flange nuts, the one on the left. I think this is causing somby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
I'm stumped guys! I've made four attempts to print an improved Z axis carriage that the X axis stepper mounts on, using ABS. Also note that I'm printing from the SD card. At some point in all four attempts, the X axis misses step and messes everything up. It's not happening at the same elevation, anywhere from 2 mms to 20 mms. I've replaced the linear bearings and rods on the X. My X stepper is aby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants

Putzer, My Migbot does the same thing. I'm not an expert on these thing, but, I'd say it's mostly due to vibration and movement in the design. I've researched this and it seems that the dual Z axis steppers, each with a lead screw, will always be difficult to keep level unless some sort of backlash nut is employed on each screw. Attached is a photo of where your backlash is, Google it and you'llby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants

I ordered the one from your first link ($13.98). It will work but you'll have to tweak a few things on the metal carriage that came with your machine. Also, the aluminum handle used to compress the spring, hits the front fan/metal carriage, it will need to get cut off. And, the spring mechanism isn't great, probably need a longer spring. So, the fact that my MKS-Base V1.3 controller took a dump, is driving me nuts. I can't figure out what happened. I don't see any physically burnt components and I didn't smell any magic smoke. I read on the Wiki page that there is a recoverable fuse on these boards, anyone know where it is? Also, I want to check the voltage at the X axis, do I just put the red probe on the current pot screw and tby jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Ordered an Azteeg X3, anyone know if the Migbot LCD controller will work with the Azteeg X3? Everything else is very well documented. I'm in the process of drawing up my own version of the Prusa style printer and the Azteeg will go on it. I'll be using parts from Open Builds.com and some parts cut on my CNC machine.by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Oops! Released the magic smoke this morning, going to order a board with separate stepper drivers. I don't really know how the smoke got out, I was in the middle of a 2 1/2 hour print and the X axis stopped working? Maybe it got over heated? I don't have cooling in place to the board. I tried another stepper plugged into the X port and no movement. Dang it, had it printing pretty well too.by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
Has anyone found an aluminum extruder mount for this thing? I know it was mentioned very early in this forum (first page) but haven't seen anything on it since. I see there is one on flea-bay for $27 but that seems a bit high for what it is. Also, I was looking at this...any thoughts? JB.by jbehan - Prusa i3 and variants
