hello, I have all of my axis working perfect except for my y axis. I have tried multiple stepper drivers and no matter where the set screw is turned to, it is jerky and will not move correctly. Is this maybe a firmware problem? What should the steps per mm be for the y axis? Thanks, jon broadfootby jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
hello, every time I try to put the ramps board onto my arduino the arduino lights turn off and it wont read the usb on pronterface. any ideas on whats going onby jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Hello, I am working with a arduino mega 2560 and a ramps 1.4. Using malrin as my firmware. When I get all of the wires and steppers connected to the ramps board and try connecting to pronterface I get the folowing error. Connecting... Could not connect to /dev/tty.SRS-BTX500-DataInteract at baudrate 250000: Serial error: could not open port /dev/tty.SRS-BTX500-DataInteract: Resource busy: '/by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
When I put the jumpers on my ramps board, the arduino is no longer visible when I plug it into the computer. Like it is shutting it down and it won't work. Any suggestions?by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
what do you mean by micro stepping jumpers? I was unaware that I needed these.by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey guys, I am trying to calibrate my xyand z axis. I grab the steps per mm from marlin and then move each axis from pronterface so I can see how far they travel. When I hit move 100mm it move way to far and runs into the other side of the machine. No matter what value I put in for steps per mm it move the same distance. Any suggestions on how to calibrate it?by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey guys, I am in the precess of getting my pruse I3 rework up and running. When I try to heat up the hotends and the bed to start a print the bed heats up just fine, but then the hotend will olny heat up to around 130degrees and won't make it all the way to 230. I have dual extruders on my printer. I am stumpped on what to do. Any suggestions? I am using two j head hot ends, with a ramps 1.4 anby jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey Steve, I built the prusa I3 rework so the motors are mounted on the bottom. Also I have two extruders, so that is going to be the next part I have to figure out how to set up once I can get the Z axis working properly. I tried setting my max feed rate to 2 and that did not help as well.by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants

Well i get movement but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Also the Z axis will not home I dont know if that is part of the problem or a whole new one, but it doesn't move wen I try to home it.by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey Steve, So when I type in M203 Z120 and M92 Z4000 nothing happens.Any ideas?by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Hey Olaf, When I typed in M92 Z3 that worked to get it moving, but now when I try to move it up 10mm it only slightly turns. When I try to move it up 1mm it turn a tiny bit, and when I try to move it up .1mm it does not move at all. It is getting so close to working but just not there yet. Any suggestions on how to get it to move the correct distances?by jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
I am using marlin and a ramps board with an arduinoby jonbroadfoot - Reprappers
Hey guys, So I just built a prusa i3 and I have the x axis and y axis working. The problem is my Z axis. When I tell it to move it humms and jerks a little bit but won't actually move. The threaded rods are easy to move and are level. The wiring is definitely correct. The driver is set to the highest output. I even took a stepper motor from my other printer that I know for sure works and it wasby jonbroadfoot - Prusa i3 and variants
Could you possible copy and paste that part of your firmware into here so I could double check what I have compared to you?by jonbroadfoot - Reprappers
The weird part is when I run the test ramps code on my arduino they work fine. So I'm thinking it is something to do with the firmware,.by jonbroadfoot - Reprappers
My drivers are all the way up. Is there an easy way to tell how much power is coming out of your drivers. Right now I just play with it. I turn it a quarter turn then try moving it. and repeat that step till it seems it is at its highest setting.by jonbroadfoot - Reprappers
I have tried to do that already and I get the same thing. It wants to turn it seems like it is not getting enough power though.by jonbroadfoot - Reprappers

Hey Steve, Thanks for responding. This is what mine is set too. #define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {500, 500, 5, 45} // (mm/sec)by jonbroadfoot - Reprappers
So what did you find was the problem of your z motors not turning. I just built an I3 and I am having the same problem. Very frustratin my conectors are fine and I tried using a stepper motor from my other printer and it does the same thing. It makes a noise and jerks but wont turn.by jonbroadfoot - Reprappers
