Good luck... remember motors usually wont move initially unless it has been homed... then it moves until it hits the end stop... if your endstops are in a different position, and if your motors are wired differently, it may head in another direction... get ready to litterally pull the plug... or at least hit the end stop manually with your finger... my end stops are on the right of the x-axiby Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
Okie doke I started working on Auto Tramming/Leveling the heated build plate. I remixed this Servo Mount for a QU-BD 40mm cooling fan servo + Z-probe bracket for ord bot hadron: - i reduced the thickness of the fan mount portion, and flipped it 180 degrees so the servo is on the right side, and the fan mount is between the fan and the heat sink, sandwiched in nice and tight... I printed out a different one for use with my kit. When I purchased my kit, it was missing the printed plastic parts, so while waiting for them to be sent in the mail, and after Folger made the .stl files available online, I started printing what I needed, and substituted parts for other ones... QuoteZavashier Yeah. I apologize, I've read the 13 pages as fast as possible. Some informations may have been missed. Well Tom has some videos, fine. I've watched all of them. Through, I was not complaining but comparing versus other prusa i3 sellers which provide a much more complete documentation. The Czar documentation helped me much more, for example. QuoteZavashier Hi all, nice topic thx ! I'm also a Folger i3 owner. I'll post some pictures when eveything will be ok. I think there's a lack of building and configuration information with this kit, and the way to put all the eggs in the same google drive basket seemed rubbish to me, and especialy boring when you have to download the Marlin firmawre file to file. I have mine secured to a sheet of plywood, check my posts for links to my Flickr album on the Folger Prusa, my posts also include stl files for clips that secure the threaded rod down to the wood. do a search for posts by me, and you should find what you are looking for... if you have not already read through the entire thread, lots of good tips, links to video builds of the Folger Prusa onby Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants

Would it be worthwhile to investigate the cause for your current extruder jams? If you would rather not, no problem, but Sometimes the fix might be easy enough. and cost you less just my 1.5 cents. as far as the E3D-v6 extruder, I'm afraid I dont know anything about it other than the reviews on found on google along with a number of video's about it. Sorry I should have been more clear... for ABS Garnier Fructis V at 100 degrees glass plate is great... PLA? I only use Blue painters tape 2093 or 2090 works great for PLA on the makerbot replicator 2.by Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
Dont go crazy trying different adhesion formula's. go straight to Garnier Fructuis extra hold (V) (or 5 strength so to speak) works amazing with a properly leveled head bed glass. do not pass go, do not collect $200.00 go straight to the drugstore and get this hairspray... and keep the hair on your head. (not affiliated with Garnier in any way... just thrilled it works so well) Cheers. wirby Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
Perhaps the stepper motor isn't any good? i would contact the guys at Folger and ask them for their opinion... or ask them to send out a replcacement extruder motor, because everything is pointing at the motor, if you already tried swapping the motor driver... They do offer Skype support so try emailing support@folgertby Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
I did a remix of a Raspberry Pi cam stand for my Folgertech Prusa i3, added extensions, and flattened the base from the original design. have a look if you are interested... the positioning on the stand can pretty much be anywhere on your plywood base (if you have one) as it's meant to be screwed down... here is the link. Walmart 8x10 picture fram glass for $5.00 works great, not sure why you would want the aluminum... Would you still put a piece of glass on it or print on the aluminum? Glass is great because it's cheap, you can have several ready to go, Just my opinion. The aluminum looks cool. But it's bolted down... Cheers. Hope this helps?by Waltermixx - Reprappers
I noticed in the video that even when the filament is going through the extruder, the stepper seems to for lack of a better way to put it: take two steps forward and 1 back, so the end result is the filament moves forward, but it still seems to be "stuttering" its way through... i watch the video closely and the motion of the stepper does not seem like a smooth forward motion. QuoteAKFoddy7 WPFLUM, Let me know when you get the auto-level setup. I just got the J-Head, so once I get a few things printed I will be working on the servo arm. Something tells me I will have more issues than what I can imagine right now. But once its setup it should help eliminate the adjustment fine tuning. where did you get your J-Head from? you mentioned locally? got a link? will it mby Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
Not sure if I answered your questions: Yup it's ABS, and my printer is in a 11' x 14' bedroom and if the printer has been printing for an hour or so, yes the room does smell like burned plastic (ABS smell). It's not terrible, my wife has not compained about it, and thats a pretty good barometer ... I purchased the filament from www.filaments.ca it's good quality stuff... A 7805 is not very efficient and will generate a lot of heat, there may be better options that wont generate as much heat, or that may be more efficient... it's a good stop gap measure, but as a permanent install you may wish to get something more efficient, and cooler running See National LM2575 datasheet for details AND Calculationsby Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
I also have the folger Prusa i3 kit, and I purchased their graphic LCD as well. It's great for getting immediate control of the printer, adjusting temperature while a print is going, makes it very handy. No need to worry about your laptop crashing mid print if you load the sd card with your gcode, and print from the sd card... i think this is a great upgrade, and I had no issues with the folgerby Waltermixx - Reprappers

Not sure if I mentioned it before, but this guy (Tom ) has an awesome series of youtube videos on using setting up Marlin firmware so you can use an LCD display, along with tips on how to set things up these video's are a great way to start. here is the one on adding an LCD with SD card. lots of good timps.by Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
as you can see it's pretty tight. i hope some of the Idea's make it to the next kit too. the Y belt holder with the 3 screw holes that match this kit, ( I sent them the .stl for that, so they should have what they need if they choose to include it, saves drilling a hole )by Waltermixx - Prusa i3 and variants
