I have had a lot of trouble with the SD cards being recognised. The only one out of three that works is the supplied Kingston 4GB card.Even this stopped being recognised until I gave it and the card slot a clean with a spray cleaning agent and then inserting and removing the card several times. So yes this may be the reason fot the slowish speeds compared with others and I donot know if it makes aby jondel - Duet
Many thanks ElmoC and Kurzaa. After much messing about getting bossac to work I finally managed to update the firmware to 1.09x and from there updated over the web to 1.12a.I did not have to rename the firmware to upload and I used dc42`s iap.bin. Firmware Name: RepRapFirmware for Duet Firmware Version: 1.12a (2016-05-10) Web Interface Version: HTML: 1.11, JS: 1.11 The upload speed has been dramby jondel - Duet
I have tried to install the latest dc42 firmware 1.12-dc42 but with no luck. I get an error message "Invalid mcode M997". I have tried both yours and Christians iap.bin.This is with duet 0.8.5 and renamed the firmware to RepRapFirmware.bin. I have probably done some thing stupid but I donot know what. Any chance of improving the stepper motor drivers using such as the Trinomic? Anything to reduce the noise of the printer would be welcome. jondelby jondel - Duet
Quotebgkdavis The short answer is NO. The extruder drive would be a stepper motor circuit, a relay needs a digital DC circuit Probably would be better to explain exactly what you want to do. guessing its trigger something when the extruder is active, and someone may tell you the best way to do it. Thanks, yes you are quite right I want to trigger a solenoid when the circuit is active and I thoby jondel - Ormerod
Is it possible to add a relay to the extruder circuit so that when the extruder is called the relay operates and if so what voltage and current would be required and would it be wired in parallel or series. Sorry to ask this but I am hopeless with electronics. Thanks Johnby jondel - Ormerod
Quotezombiepantslol Hi John, that code looks quite horrible! First, it's a bad idea to use M25 in G-code files, the right code for this purpose is M226. Second, you should not put it in the same line as a G1 code, put in a separate line either above or below your move code - then it should work well. M25 may be used only to pause a print via the web interface or from a serial line (Pronterface,by jondel - Ormerod
Thanks for the quick reply,I will try this out later this afternoon and let you know.I have been struggling with this for ages. Thanks again, Johnby jondel - Ormerod
Help with pause and resume. I have added the pause and resume macros to the /sys folder and inserted the M25 command as,in this case G1 M25 Z1.160 F6000.000. The print stops at this level then goes to the bed corner homing position. When I resume with M24 the nozzle goes back to where it left off, starts to print but immediately goes back to the bed corner with console message 'print paused' and wby jondel - Ormerod
I know tthat this is not part of the web interface but full support for KISSlicer would be nice on your and/or dc42s` web interfce Johnby jondel - Ormerod
Quotedc42 Quotejondel Does the fact that there is between 1 and 2 mm of travel where the bowden cable meets the extruder make any difference or is that taken care of with retraction. Do you mean play where the Bowden cable meets the extruder drive? I don't have any play there, provided that I have the tongue inserted properly. Yes I have tried two reprinted tongues and I always have had play aby jondel - Ormerod

Thanks dc42 "In the Cura settings, look at the Start/End GCode. If there are any T0 commands, change them to T1. if there are any G10 P0 commands, change them to G10 P1." The only code I have got is this (not much of it) Start ;TweakAtZ-state1 ;Basic settings: Layer height: {layer_height} Walls: {wall_thickness} Fill: {fill_density} ;Print time: {print_time} ;Filament used: {filament_amount}mby jondel - Ormerod
"You must edit your custom gcode in slic3r. Change T0 to T1". I use Cura is it possible to do this in Cura without manually editing the gcode file. It`s probably something simple butI can`t see how to do it. Thanksby jondel - Ormerod
QuoteSquags If you look on youtube you'll see videos of people using solder in a 3d printer. The results seem pretty poor compared to plastic, but fun none the less. I've just persuaded my uni to pay for all the parts needed to design and build a hot end that'll (hopefully) melt aluminium wire. If successful I intend to make a hot end that can be used with reprap printers (along with an enclosureby jondel - Ormerod
I've had my machine for about a month now and can say that I was surprised that the kit was'nt about four or five pieces, but more like a large Meccano set and took me about four days to assemble and a further three weeks to sort out which software to use and which hardware to improve. But really for the price I don't think I can grumble. To be honest it has for me been quite a steep learning curvby jondel - Ormerod
