yes,, your right that looks like a older board. I just soldered everything together I also put on the right angle connector. I missed The AUTO-RST jumper. I presume I can just put a jumper shunt onto it. I didn't fully understand what this does.... when the shunt is on it wont be interrupted when the USB is unplugged which is good for sd card printing? that sound right?

Thanks ifrisbie this helps a lot. I wasn't sure if you can swap out the connectors like that. So what was the 4 pin molex (upper right) for in this picture?
I think I have all the correct electronic parts since I used someone elses BOM, I will let you know if I need a part number.

I wanted to do the atx connection but I dont know how that fits on to my board. The 4 prongs of the atx connection do not line up to anything. So I started doing the instructions for the screw terminal. Is there something I am missing?
Also how well do you need to solder these parts? I learned how to solder while working on th

This power supply will work for my setup (above post) correct? 12V
I just need to modify the green wire and brown/orange sense wires by cutting and soldering them to the board? What happens to the rest of the wires for the power supply? Can I cut them off and put caps on them? I no electrical experience so I am guessing......

I also just purchased a whole bunch of stuff from them. The price is reasonable and everything seems fine. I called them after I purchased online and I picked it up a couple hours later. Its a small shop and they are friendly.

How much wire do I need? Say if I get 25' reel either Cat5 or 22-24 gauge awg wire cut into 1' increments enough?
Hotends.com recommends getting this for the J-Head:
High-temperature wire for resistor
Teflon (PTFE) sleeving for thermistor lead insulation
Anything else I need to know? I am uncertain also how everything wires together? Can I use some sort of plugs or do I just solder directly to

Ok, great. I noticed there was a wrappable sleeve.... I might give that a go since it gives the most flexibly. The mdpc site seems promising but I guess they have store hours. I cant even look at the products until its open which wont work for my schedule.
Thanks!

Wiring - 12 years ago
I am new to this and anything to do with electronics.....What are people using for wiring? Is there any tips for making the wiring as neat as possible any pre-made wires like this? or

I was reading this particularly at the part Building an affordable power supply. That seemed a bit scary (drilling, screwing, could be killed etc....) Although now rereading the page it looks like the old AT Power Supply is what I should get instead.

I did decide to go with the Sanguinololu. It seemed like a better choice for me since I probably wont be dual extruding anytime soon. I can always change later on. I ended up just buying from Mouser using this BOM I just added the Molex connectors....

What is the benefit? How difficult is to use either power supply. It seems the ATX power supply needs lots of modification?

What are the additional outputs?
1 additional extruder and 1 sensor? or is there something else?
I decided on Sanguinololu since it was cheaper and the soldering instructions seemed easier.

Does this sound about right? I am just trying to buy all the right amount of bolts etc... I am purchasing this but I am modifying the order to suite Gregs Extruder. I made this list from reading the notes from here:
1x m3nut
8x m3washer
3x m3x10
1x m3x25
2x m3x25 or 30 (for J-Head)
2x m3x40
2x m4nut
1x m8x65mm Hobbed bolt
1x m8washer
1x m8nut
3x bearing 608
2x extruder-spring
1x m8 threaded ro

Great I will experiment with this soon.
Two more questions....
Which extruder should I be using? I found this development site which shows Greg's Hinged Accessible Extruder as something that supercedes the wades extruder... is it safe to start with wades extruder or should I try and find Gregs's?
[3dprint.development-tracker.info]
Which Hot end nozzle size and type is recommened?
Thanks for

Great this all helps make my case to my Girlfriend...... one more step closer to building this. Thanks!
Another question for the actual 3D geometry to print. I use 3ds Max , do I need to model in a particular fashion to be able to print? Does it have to be a nurbs surface then exported to stl? or can I use the box modeling technique?

Hi all,
I am new to the scene and ready to get my hands dirty. I have yet to purchase the parts to make a prusa mendal but I have it all priced out. I am a little hesitant though without asking a few questions that others may know (sorry if its been answered a billion times, couldnt find all my questions):
How loud is this machine? I am currently in an apartment not a workshop.....although wish
