Very tiny screws at the very bottom of the stepper cards. Make sure you use the correct card.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Great stuff, Thank you very much. Many ideas going through my head right now.by sjerguy - 3D Design tools
I used DUCO Cement and it worked fine!by sjerguy - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
I notice, even though I have 3 layers specified on my gcode, the printer for some reason is not paying attention to it! I guess I have the same problem!!!by sjerguy - Let's design something! (I've got an idea ...)
Started the day out this morning with my printing not sticking to my print surface. Noticed the surface was a little cold. Placed the surface in the microwave for 30 seconds and all is fine. I am using non-heated bed with glass over the plexiglass covered in two layers of painters tape. Prusa Mendel i3XL, PLA filament.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
I know the ponterface options lists this slice command ------ Slic3r/slic3r.exe $s --output $o Slicer Options command ------ Slic3r/slic3r.exe I understand the Slicer options command, but I don't understand the slicecommand. I'm assuming it is going to the config file, but there is no .ini file there. Sounds like I should save the Slic3r settings at that location!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Interesting find. Thanks for the heads up I can't get top 3 layers to print solid, maybe this is why. Wonder if it has something to do with where the .ini file is stored. I couldn't find the .ini file that is being followed by default.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Wrong baud rate. Let me correct that - Baud Rate doesn't match the baud rate set in marlin! I am using the highest baud rate on my i3xl. Which I'm guessing would mean you have to change your marlin setting.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Pretty good looking n9jcv. I just might have to make a set of those. Thank you. Size of screws?by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Not completely done, but it works great!!! Using paper shims - Manila folder and regular paper. You won't believe the control you get. Have to glue the block to the end stop. Maybe run it parallel to the endstop.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Looking good!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
I've never done it, but in theory, why not? Wonder if the PLA output would have to be decreased to do that, or even to print .2mm with great quality.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
I can't talk about 1.75 mm I use 3mm I am using .5mm hotend. You can print .2mm or 4mm layer with .5mm nozzle, you can't print .4mm layerwith .4mm nozzle. Rule of thumb is largest layer should be no more than 80% of nozzle size. I can't talk about smaller nozzle size jamming.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Not the one I was referring to, but that was good. Tried to find the one I was talking about. No Luck of courseby sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Did I mention I'm printing levelers to place the base on as we talk!!!! Love it!!!!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Just printed my first piece at .2mm layer height. Will I ever go back to .4mm? It looks great!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Lovin that plywood base!!! Like I said before, I used corian. I built a pvc frame around the printer. I'm hoping to place the filament roll and power supply up top! First thing I did was attach a half inch pvc piece to the right frame, now I can remove the stupid angled brace in the back, and now my frame is perpendicular.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
You need to set a line in the marlin arduino code. In the config file look for this line: #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {84,80.2,4042.8,800} there is a good video on it, I would search youtube - prusa i3 calibration sorry, I can't remember the addressby sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Y axis endstop is set to work when bed hits it. It is suppose to work when bearing housing underneath hits it.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
In my experience DYI Always replaces any parts and does it quickly!!!!!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Better yet, how about frame printed from a 3d printer!!!!!!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
and another thing...ha ha. I would start a new thread on each new post. I find it hard to follow the train of thought on one long thread. Just a thought!by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Z threaded rods - I know people have used wire ties to make the clear sleeves tight, but I haven't done that. When you start printing you will run into mistakes and one will be going to far into the bed with your z axis. If there is no wire ties, the threaded rods come right out of the sleeves and take the pressure off the bed. Maybe I will do it later. The smooth z axis rods. Not only do you haby sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Too much resistance on one of the threaded rods? A little oil on the threaded rods to make them work freely Slipage from the motor to the threaded rod?by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
I placed my printer on a piece of corian and am now designing levelers to level the corian. I have made my printing bed permanent (three nuts on each screw). Used a square to make my aluminum plate square to my corian. No matter were I place my printer, all I have to do is level the corian.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Thanks all, it ended up being not enough power. Adjusted the power at the stepper motor driver and is working fine.by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
rmz...I just sent you a private message asking for text file of your config file. Wasn't able to open the one you supplied.by sjerguy - Prusa i3 and variants
I'll assume its one of these lines of code....... //// MOVEMENT SETTINGS #define NUM_AXIS 4 // The axis order in all axis related arrays is X, Y, Z, E #define HOMING_FEEDRATE {50*60, 50*60, 4*50, 0} // set the homing speeds (mm/min) #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {79.46,80.2,4042.8,744.54}// default steps per unit for 12 tooth T5 Belt #define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE {500, 500, 5,by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
I have no idea what speed. I am using Marlin. I'm asssuming I can program at Marlin?by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
Having a problem with my stepper motors on my new prusa. When the threaded rods are not connected the motors work great! When I hook up the threaded rods, the motors don't work. I get humming. I'm guessing not enough power some how. ......any suggestions?by sjerguy - General Mendel Topics
