COM goes offline when printer hits endstop
July 07, 2013 11:50AM
I have the Arduino and Pronterface hardware installed, I'm trying to setup the printer and the COM2 goes offline everytime the printer stops on one of the endstops.
error: Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

What am I missing?

Thanks

Are you sure you wired the endstop correctly? It sounds like something gets shorted out.

That is the issue. When I remove the endstops from the RAMPS board it connects fine. I will have to rewire the endstops.
Thanks!

Looks like you have wired you endstops NO instead of NC and connected them between GND and 5V instead of GND and the input pin.

I'm not doing this right.

The pins for the board are Red | Black | Blue, and the red is on the + of the board. The switch is NO | NC | C.

I put the volt meter on Rx 1K and the probes n the NO and C it jumps to 1 OHM. I close the switch and the meter goes to 0. I pin the line to the board ( red | blue) and retest. The probes go to 1 OHM but when I close the switch it goes back to 2, not shutting down completely.
Do I have a fault somewhere?

NOTHING should be connected to the + on the board.

Your switches should be connected to S (Signal) and - (Ground)
