Hi Paucus

Having chatted with Alessandro I know this is something he is looking at - the current Slic3r does not have current mxing support thought.

Cheers

It's Neri Oxman, with the Mediated Matter group at the MIT Media Lab.

Yeah, I know, I happened upon this patent while reading through one of her papers (Functional Graded Rapid Prototyping).
Still, it is bad news that a multi-material/color extruder that looks nearly exactly like our RepRap design ones is already patented. One can still hope that she and her associates are more interested in advancement of technology and science than making money by suing patent violators, though.

Any progress on the software side at this point? I have also been working on a two input nozzle, and would like to be able to control the extruder motors simultaneously.
Working on a Rostock Max with dual extruders at the moment.

Hi

The RepRap Firmware has a fork that will allow for controlling up to 5 extruders extruding at once:

Using M160

My biggest concern with color mixing is what happens when a filament is left unextruded for many hours (or even days) while the extruder is hot. This situation would not be unusual, especially once you start approaching 5 colors.

Although I guess you could just purge every color between layers if it was a problem.
