I am getting strange stuff on my lcd this morming.



this is visible while I am printing, the... stuff... changes shape as if it is updating during the print ???

No standard flat pair that came with the package.

My guess would be either crosstalk from another cable running near the ribbon cables, or possibly a pin in one of the ribbon cables not making perfect contact. Try re-seating the cables first.....

Yes ! it worked. thanks.

12v power cable for one of the arduino cooling fans was near the sd cable. removing it solved the garble.
Still having trouble with connection loss between the pc and the printer...

This is an old and much discussed problem. Most people attribute it to static, but I'm not entirely convinced.

I don't know what you're running, but I have marlin on my printer. Either ejecting or inserting the SD card will reinitialize the display. Other than that, you seem to already be trying the logical things - shorter, higher quality, shielded cable, etc. Don't know what else to try.
