Lots of problems with my Prusia i3..confused smiley

Hey forum I need your help, and alot of it. About 2 months ago i purchased a folgertech prusa i3 kit and it is the first 3d printer I have ever delt with and so far its been an terrible time. I built it with no problems but the problems Im currently having is getting my x and z axis to work. For some reason my y axis works flawlessly. but my x and z axis is where the problems start to fall in place. Currently my x axis somewhat works, but it only goes about half way across and then stops moving, and it can only move very tiny steps at a time. Ive treid messing with the potentiometers but there hasnt been any luck. Ive messed with the firmware and settings and nothing seems to work at all. Its extremely annoying because I just want to be able to 3d print! As for my z axis I try moving it on pronterface and I get very tiny tiny movements, and that only works half the time the rest it just makes a weird ringing noise... I just need someone to help me all i want to do is 3d objects and have fun with this realitivly new technology. If someone can help me with all these problems you will be my savior lol. Please someone help me out

Try these settings. Do you have an M5 threaded rod for Z?
Did you wired the motors or they came already set?
Have you tested your endstops with an M119?.

Yes I am using m5 threaded rods.. and for some reason now when I try to move the stepper motors through pronterface on the very right side it say okokok -- everytime it try to move the motors

Please verify that your endstops switches are open when trying to move.
You have EEPROM set, are you saving the new settings after flashing? Check with you lcd that the values are correct.
I used S3D for all my printer calibrations and operations, so I can't explain whats happening with pronterface.

I am uploading the new settings but no I haven't saved them.. and the endstops appear to work just fine. When I press down on them a little led turns red on it.

Have you tuned the trimpots on the stepper drivers?
You will need to tune the power input, and even more important for the 2 steppers running from 1x stepper cintroller.
Tune with an antistatic tool. CLOCKWISE until motor buzzes, then bring back until the motor has good torque and runs smooth.


Do you have the bridge connectors in place for the 1/16 stepping that your firmware believes you have?
You will need all 3 connectors.

Also for your code.
Change the steps per mm to the followinh

{80,80,400,680} give this a try until you have to tune your extruder stepper.
Your 'default ' numbers look very weird with all those decimal numbers. Metric is easy, use the Prusa calculator to confirm what i have told you. 80 steps per mm for the Gt2 belt with 20 tooth pulleu and 4000 steps per mm for the M5 threaded rod.
Also, change the max Acceleration from 1000 to 2000.

One thing is that physically your endstops works (red light coming on) and another is how they work in the firmware. The logic might be reversed, have you done M119 test?

I have the jumper on there and installed, and I have tuned my stepper motors.. for some reason im getting a weird error in pronterface so ill need to fix than when I get home because it seems like no power is going to the motors as of right now. Im not sure why or what I did.. but that is fixable, and wjat do you mean a 1x stepper cintroller? Because I definitely done have one of those

An M119 command in pronterface or any other controller will ask the firmware if any of the switches have been triggered, in your configuration h file, you have selected that motors wouldn't move pass that triggered switch. If the logic of your switch is wrong NO instead of NC your switch will be constantly triggered preventing your motors to move, or they will move in a very restricted way.
