Thin vertical man-made supports are removed

Hi all. I am very new to the community but familiar with solid modeling with Rhino and STL in general. I've been using slic3r 0.9.9 with very thin vertical support walls 0.05 mm wide that I create as solids overlaid on the solid I am making (which I want to support). I export both objects, together, as an STL, and run them through slic3r and it works and the supports are visible in the visualized Gcode. Now, I am trying to give slic3r 1.0.1 a try but note that these thin supports disappear completely. I understand there is an STL fixing feature in 1.0.1 which I suspect is responsible for this. Anyone has experienced that? Is there a way to disable STL fixing support, if this turns out to be the issue?

Thanks in advance

Don't know about that but you could try Slic3r 1.1.2
