Multiple Extruders

Is there a plan for anyone to work on multiple extruders?
I know that the slots are there to hang the extruder stepper motors from, but when could this happen and what is involved?

I can foresee a fair number of snags being hit when that is attempted, with a heavy batch of modifications being required!

I would instantly be ordering a kit, so how far away is it,a month, a year?
Will they be shipped with a hmm 800w or something PSU)?

I quess you could just order the expansion card for 4 more extruders and hook them up, but I have no idea as to how much work remains before releasing firmware for this setup..

But soon, i hope grinning smiley

Would you need a bigger PSU? The extruder motors don't consume very much power, and I imagine the print head would be similar to the current one but with three nozzles in a single heated block, so there would still be only one heater. This is assuming that all 3 filaments extrude at the same temperature. If you wanted separate heated blocks, then you would still need no more than 100W additional power.

I think, some work is underway for multi-colour, but I'm not sure how this would be mounted.

The Duet was designed with an expansion board in mind, we are using a 4 channel expansion board right now but different power stepper drivers and numbers of channels is possible.
