Hello,

I've just figured out that shaft couplers from prusa iteration 2 (these ones) are too large for 5mm motor shaft. When couplers are fully screwed the inner diameter is about 6-7mm.
So I'm wondering - how to attach Z-axis threaded rods to motor shafts? The only solution I see is to wrap motor shaft with some tape or heatshrink tube. Or there are some trick for this?

5mm hose makes the motor shaft nice a grippy

I was too impatient to wait until I had the opportunity to buy some aquarium hose, so I used heat shrink tubing and it worked great. I needed three layers.

i accidentally ordered motors with 4mm shafts instead of 5mm so i made a better truly symetrical coupler in autocad. obviously its a 4mm to 8mm but it would be very simple to modify it to any other size coupler needed. tell me what you guys think. i have attached the stl and autocad files, so that you can view and modify them to your liking.

aduy, I like your design.
But maybe you should increase a space for nut a bit, to be able to use lock nut here?

if you give me the specs for a lock nut i can do that, i actually was just using the nuts that came in the hardware kit i got from ultimachine.

I'm talking about something like this.
Lock nut usually fit very tight, so I thought it might be better to use it in your shaft couplers.

it should be able to fit a lock nut, just fine. its the same size as a regular nut just taller.
