i have just got into reprap, and i am really interested in building my own. i have read some manuals and how too's, but i am not entirely sure where to start.

i would really appreciate some advice for first timers, what i should look out for and which model of reprap i should aim to build

check out prusa mendel i2, lots of support online, parts can be easy to source and a pleasant build to a novice. and not knowing where you are in the world makes it tricky to recommend suppliers parts
