Can anyone recommend a solid 400w 12v 30amp power supply?

I am purchasing a diytech prusa i3x in the next two weeks and i need a psu for it. Can anyone recommend a website vendor for a solid psu. I don't really want a cheapo ebay one. I'm hoping for one in the $30-$60 range. Is there a standard one most people use?

I went to the local electronics store, frys in my case, and bought a 34a 500w single rail PSU, desoldered the unneeded stuff and used that. What country are you based in and that will help people give you a more accurate list of vendors.

If you don't mind hacking a bit. Look for a used server single rail PSU. IBM/HP/DELL psu's made for rack equipment have huge amperage. My IBM one has 57Amps if powered by 110v, and ~110amps+ when powered by 220v. Used on e-bay they can go for 10-50bux a pop. They are very overbuilt, they have good thermal management and most come with spade like connectors you can solder on directly. They auto compensate and adjust the voltage to 12v+ even under load, some even have a sense terminal that will allow the psu to compensate for wire resistance.

The two downsides are.
They can be loud.
you need to find out how to jump start it. (RC group forums has good articles and model numbers and diagrams on how to do it)

I use a Mean Well SE-450-12. From Jameco electronics. No hacking needed. it is 450watts at 12vdc. and about $ 70.00 it serves me well.

United States. Arizona. We have a Frys about 30 minutes away. I would prefer not to use a computer psu or do anything that requires disassembly like mentioned below. I need a simple solution.

The Mean Well is better than a PC power supply. Take a look. It is rated at 38amps. It is a dedicated supply that will last for years and will handle any upgrades you might do in the future. Don't scrimp on your power supply its a critical part.

I'm glad to help. Just make sure you post some pics when your Prusa I3x is up and printing

I picked up a used Cosel AC450 on eBay that's been working extremely well. It's multi-output and medical grade. I spent $50 on it.
