Recovery of a RepRap Dinosaur

a friend and i are currently trying to fix this really old reprap printer but cant seem to get past this message "áNp|hn“Ba8&6Hjˆhp|.8]«ˆZqHJ>|Yˆp|H~ð^èk5ˆ=ÉM³w÷è%iP|€+mJO6÷æ'}H.ø" when we try to connect to pronterface, any ideas on what we can do?

Looks like a baud rate mismatch. Try changing the baud rate.

none of the other baud rates give us anything, it will just continually say connecting

Can you give us some more information to work with? What kind of printer is it? What kind of electronics? Do you know if it has firmware loaded on it?

if you have Marlin firmware loaded it will give you the expected Baud rate in the Configuration.H file

well Pronterface is connecting to something if you are getting anything coming back. the messages wont make any sense until you connect to the correct comport at the correct speed.
is it possible you are trying to connect to the wrong device? are you sure the arduino USB port or cable are still working ? (assuming it's an arduino)
