HICTOP Prusa I3 Y drifting/jams

iv already had to replace the y stepper once due to print bed wires getting jammed, solved that problem and replaced motor, now i found the wing nuts on the print bed cause it to jam and i believe it may of taken out the replacement motor. iv only been 3D printing now for about a month and this is starting to get on my nerves, when i works i love it but the constantly problems with the y axis is getting me at wits end,

printing a 5 mm test now to confirm the y axis is busted

issue i need help with is what is there that i can do to prevent damage to the motor. i tried changing to plain nuts for the bed adjustment and they came off 30 min into a 3 hr print.
is there any way i can put a resister circuit on the motor to limit the power to it and prevent burn outs? (i know a little about electronics but just basics)

2ed issue i need help with is what can i do about the wing nuts to prevent further jams, right now only thing i can think of is welding the nut itself to the bed so it dose not come lose.

I use nylocks for the bed and these to hold them:

To limit current to the motor you adjust the pot on the stepper driver
