For the Ramps you can get a arduino Mega for $38 from mouser.com if you buy the A000067 version. Also if you are in the US, look at McMaster-Carr for smooth rod. You can get 3 feet of 8mm for $5.60. PN# 88625K67. McMaster-Carr doesn't tell you the shipping cost. But I paid $13 for shipping, I am in Texas. And finally you can get LM8UU bearings for $1.75 each from Ultimachine.com. Hey, I had this problem too. In the configuration file I selected 33 for this line in the configuration file. Quote#ifndef MOTHERBOARD#define MOTHERBOARD 33#endif 33 is really for RAMPS 1.3. It mostly works the same. The Z endstops seem to be switched and the extrude, fan and bed power termials are mixed up. But the motors work. I just switched the how I wired the end stops and power termby pfinucan - General
richgain, That is a very good point... At 0.3mm layer height and weight over height at 1.8, the crossectional area that the slicer is expecting is .127mm^2 (pi*r1*r2). But the area of my nozzle is actually supplying is only .096mm^2 (pi*r^2). Since I calibrated the flow rate in the firmware to fill the 20mm box shape, I am extruding much more plastic that I should be for that feed rate. My eby pfinucan - General
I am not a laywer but I think it gets worse in the US after March 2013. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_to_file_and_first_to_invent Whoever files the patent frist wins, even if they didn't think of the idea first.by pfinucan - General
Simba, Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried a number of different starting heights, and I have printed with and without a raft. Doesn't seem to make a difference. The set screw for the filament against the hobbed bolt is a challenge. I have played with it a lot. It could be the problem but I don't think so, because when it jams it is jamed in the hotend, and there isn't a obvious pby pfinucan - General
Hi, I have one of those kickstarter MK8 clone extruders, with a .350mm nozzle. It's the only extruder I have so I don't have anything else to compare it to. After running through the calibration shapes in the wiki, I feel I am close to having a well calibrationed extruder. I am using ramps 1.4 with Marlin, and Skeinforge 50. I am printing 1.75mm PLA from ultimachine.com. The problem I am hby pfinucan - General
Double check that you are actually updating the firmwire in your Arduino. My computer (win7) will fail to upload the firmware if Pronterface is still open. They can't share access to the Arduino. The arduino software shows an error when this happens, you just have to watch for it. In marlin, I believe you should be editing the calibration.h file (or tab in Arduino environment), and edit thisby pfinucan - General
I have gotten some nice prints out of the extruder, but it took a while to get it tuned. I attached an example of me tuning it. Note that should be a 50mm tower but it is only 30mm because my Z steps per mm was set wrong. The printer is a repstrap. I found that in bigger prints, the tension screw comes loose. I know that because I have been leaving the allen wrench in the extruder and over tby pfinucan - General
Okay, so one thing I found was that I had the wrong motherboard selected, so none of the pins were defined incorrectly. That can cause a lot of problems. Still no motor movement, but the endstops work.by pfinucan - Firmware - mainstream and related support
UPDATE: All of the issues described below were caused but a incomplete edit of the configuration file. So if you have any of the following symptoms I would suggest double checking the "#define MOTHERBOARD 33" line to make sure it is 33 for Ramps1.4 and not "3" The printer communicates but: 1. Motors don't move when commanded 2. A single motor held but didn't move 3. End stops don't regisby pfinucan - Firmware - mainstream and related support
