I think my rods are straight. I talked to my friend who made my vertices, and it turned out that I had one of my top vertices facing the wrong way. I took it out and turned it around, but it didn't seem to help. Nelson, when your angles were wrong, what did you do about it?by John Stoner - Reprappers
I've begun building a Prusa Mendel, and I'm at the point where I've tightened the frame down. It feels pretty solid, and I did use jigs to get the distances pretty exact. But now when it sits on my granite kitchen counter, it's way off level. One of the feet is about a quarter inch off the surface. I've double-checked with the jig, but it seems ok. Not super exact, but closer than I'd expect--prby John Stoner - Reprappers
I'm running on Mac OSX 10.5.8, with version 5 of Java. I had the same original problem. So at the micro level, what I did was: unjar reprap.jar into a fresh directory; found reprap.properties (actually reprap.properties.dist, but that was the only .properties file there, so I went with it); edited the property Port(name)--changed it from /dev/ttyS0 to /dev/tty.usbserial-A70063lu, same deviceby John Stoner - RepRap Host
The soldering party Sunday was a big success--one set of electronics fully assembled, and two sets of stepper controllers tested and working. Andres had already gotten his electronics together. I'm hosting a build night at my place Monday December first... email me at johnstoner2 [] gmail for details. The hacktory looks pretty cool. Don't know of anything similar here. Ok, that helped. The green LEDs I had did not happen to have a flat side, though they did have a longer leg. Thanks!by John Stoner - Controllers
Thanks for the quick respons, but that doesn't answer the question: which leg goes in which hole? How do I tell by the diagram on the circuit board which wire to put in which hole?by John Stoner - Controllers
I have assembled most of my first board. I have not added the LEDs. As I look carefully at the diagram on the board, it's unclear to me from the symbol on the board which way the LEDs go in. I do know LEDs are polar, so it matters which way round you insert them. Due to deficiencies in my personal manual dexterity, I'd like to avoid desoldering as much as possible. How do I tell beforehand whichby John Stoner - Controllers
I reveceived it recently... currently remodeling my kitchen, so it's delaye a bit... also experiencing technical difficulties on some other projects. But sure, anytime you wanna get together, I'm johnstoner2 [] gmail.by John Stoner - Illinois, Chicago RepRap User Group
