Good idea... I guess when making a recess in the shape of a polygon in a surface, first instinct would be to take a calliper, measure the nut (from flat side to flat side, and from corner to corner), and input the measurements into the software. But that doesn't seem to work, and it's hard to explain why. So I simply measured one of the SIDES of the polygon and ensured I matched that up with theby mza1979m - Printing
I'm using a MendelMax 1.5 with Slic3r, and printing with PLA at the moment, and I'm able to get decent prints, and everything is very accurate. A 10x10mm box comes out as 10x10mm, etc. The ONLY thing that prints way off are hexagons (6 sided polygon). eg. When I embed a RECESSED 9.5 mm x 8.5 mm hexagon into a surface (as opposed to printing a solid hexagon), it prints as 7.9 mm x 7.3 mm, so nutsby mza1979m - Printing
Oh boy... I just uploaded the Marlin firmware and now the only thing I can do with my printer is connect Repetier-Host to it! It won't respond to anything. Can't move x, y, z, nothing. Not sure what to do... EDIT: Got it... just needed to modify configuration.h I guess. EDIT2: Or maybe not. Now the printer is acting all funny. Not responding to buttons as expected... must be something else in cby mza1979m - Printing
Yeah, I have Marlin installed. I tried M503 and M501 in both Repetier-Host and Pronterface. Both do the same thing. M503 returns nothing and M501 spits out: "echo:Hardcoded Default Settings Loaded"by mza1979m - Printing
Am I supposed to do this while the printer is idling or while it's running or...?by mza1979m - Printing
QuoteElk Hi there… I have similar issues sometimes… I was thinking about temperature changing the lenght of the belt / axis as they slowly heat up… perhaps you might want to try to preheat the machine for a longer time than necessary (for example 15mins longer than necessary to reach heatbed max-temp to make sure belt and axis-rods are all at max. possible temperature… Not sure if it really helby mza1979m - Printing
My prints seem to lean both ways (see picture) I've been getting this issue intermittently, but ONLY with ABS. PLA works perfectly consistently, so I don't think it has anything to do with the printer physically. Other times, my ABS prints come out absolutely flawless, so I have a feeling it has something to do with my settings. I'm using a MendelMax 1.5 with Repetier-Host/Slic3r. I have my extruby mza1979m - Printing
I'm looking to permanently convert my old Printrbot Plus to a basic CNC machine. Before I go about starting this, is there anything I should keep in mind? What additional hardware/software will I need? I wanted to attach my dremel to it in place of the extruder. Can I use all existing electronics/drivers? I noticed in programs like Repetier-Host (I think), there's an option where you tell it you'by mza1979m - CNC Routers, Mills, and Hybrid RepRapping
My apologies, I solved this issue ages ago but have been excitedly working on it and forgot to respond You're right, It was just that I hadn't increased the voltage on the potentiometer on each individual motor driver on the RAMPS board. They send them with the lowest setting, so I increased them to the recommended voltage based on their documentation. Working like a charm now. Thanks very muchby mza1979m - Controllers
Hi! I just finished my MendelMax 1.5 build. I uploaded the Marlin firmware, and the X-axis seems to work ok, but Y-axis is very jerky. It'll move a few inches, then the motor will sound like it's grinding but it's actually not moving. It kind of moves but very choppy. The Z axis does nothing but hums when I try to move it using Repetier-Host but doesn't even budge. I tried turning the potentiometby mza1979m - Controllers
Yes, I actually did start a new thread before I posted a response to this one as well. But funny thing is, minutes after posting this, I figured it out. All I did was remove my SD card connector from AUX, and viola! Everything got power! Motors started moving, bed started moving, everything got heated... ok, something else must be wrong... Everything's just moving all over the place :/ Well... Iby mza1979m - Reprappers
Have you or anyone been able to resolve this issue? I'm having the exact same problem on my new kit. Arduino powers up fine but only when it's not connected to RAMPS.by mza1979m - Reprappers
Hi! I just finished the assembly of a MendelMax 1.5. Here are my troubles... I plug in the power supply (I used a regular cable that is used for a PC with the black , white and green wires), and the power supply light turns on. If I have a fan plugged into the RAMPS board, it immediately comes on, so I know I have power going to it. Now, the Arduino board that RAMPS is plugged into does not appby mza1979m - Controllers
