Just a thought... could I use a locknut on each side of the hexagonal cavity to hold the threaded rod in place?by owbridmark - General
Thanks guys, Its always good to have positive feedback. I can not take all the credit though. I will have to get all the names of the people involved and post it here! Lego blocks are very precise parts due to the manufacturing process involved and so we thought we could utilise this. The technic blocks are also very versatile. The top axis where the build platform is was exceptionally smooth aby owbridmark - General
1st of all I would like to thank everyone so far for there quick response to my problem. I think this forum is awesome and will try to help out everyone I can whilst I am using it and hope you guys continue to do the same. Josh: I'm talking rather abnormally loose. Just about as loose as daufhammers but probably not quite. The M8 nut does not turn when the threaded rod turns through it. On otherby owbridmark - General

You could put your nema 17 stepper motor on a lathe if you have one and turn the shaft to be a thinner diameter. I think you should probably get away with 4mm. 3mm would probably be the bare minimum you would want for your shaft. This is all of course if you can gain access to a lathe...by owbridmark - Mechanics
Hi, I am currently building a Prusa Mendel. I have printed off all the plastic parts on a Stratasys Vantage SE and begun assembly. I have noticed that some of the parts "seem"wrong. I say this because for eg: On my x-end idler, where an M8 nut is supposed to sit in the hexagonal recess the M8 nut is loose. This seems to be occuring on all of my parts. In both Autodesk Inventor and Solidworksby owbridmark - General
Although this repstrap was not technically designed to reproduce it's own parts, i feel the potential is there. Me and a group of classmates had a project to build a rapid prototyper and this was the solution we came up with. Was a very interesting project and I feel the use of gelatine could have potential use in a reprap. Any questions please feel free. I will have to post the names of allby owbridmark - General
