I am doing a project of building my own CNC machine using a gen6 board with teacup firmware on it. Currently I have Repetier as the firmware. I created a very simple sample file using Catia V5.
Catia has the ability to generate an NC file which I tried using with the help of youtube. I could be doing this part wrong but I did follow the examples very closely and the sample "video" of it goin

I tried many things but I eventually solved this simply by switching to teacup firmware which was quite easy to use. Everything is all set up now. Thank you for all of your help.

I will try the pots when I get home first. If that doesn't work then I will try teacup and if that doesn't work then tonokip. Are teacup and tonokip compatible with the gen6 board?

I am using Marlin firmware on a Gen6 board. Yes it is screw driven. They turn very freely. Like I said too, the Z axis has the same exact motor and can go both up and down without problem. The motors I have is this one:

I put the XYJerk to 0.5 and the DEFAULT_ACCELERATION and DEFAULT_RETRACT_ACCELERATION to 60 and now it moves but in 4 small "chunks". It still sounds like it is stalling out though. The Z axis has the same motor and is much closer to being accurate btw.

Hello there. This will be my second post since my first one was very successful on here before.
So I have been building my own CNC machine / 3d printer and have everything physically built. I can move the motors with Repetier Host. They move in the correct direction. My problem is setting the step/unit ratio. The default was around 30 or so for the x and y and after running the calculations I

I just have the standard. There are two pin outs which make me think extruder and hearted print bed so i think it would support it indirectly. I don't use either at this time since I'm using it as a cnc for the time being. I'm not sure if the heated bed could be hooked up directly to be powered from the gen 6 board or if a relay would be used.

Firmware - mainstream and related support
For anyone else who has viewed this topic.. I am now using Repetier to control my CNC build. This works very well. To make sure that the gen6 board's temperature sensors aren't tripped, I hooked up the thermistors to pins 1 and 2 of both the extruder and heated bed pin layouts.

Thank you for your response. I can try Skeinforge once I am home. Would this supposedly work with my Merlin firmware do you think? Also do you think it would "ignore" not having an extruder?

Firmware - mainstream and related support
Hello all,
I am very new to the world of reprap but am an engineer so I decided to attempt to build my own 3d printer / cnc machine. I already had an existing mini mill from Taig Tools so I figured it would be more cost effective, a good learning experience, and overall a better end product once completed by modifying the mini mill to become a cnc / 3d printer. My overall end goal is to have a
