Electronics--
Makerbot gen 3 for now as there does not seem to be a better solution for my project at this time (could change)
I also am using a 4th stepper driver to run the extruder.
I am using LIN Engineering steppers now but do not know which model for the new build yet..
I would buy the same ones IF they would stay in stock!!!!!!!!!!!!
All electronics will be placed in a separat

So I finally got my machine up and running to the point that I can make another and tweak it better...
I thought I would document it here as to help a new person starting out...
Hopefully I will be able to post the first pics tonight... Until then I will start building the BOM.
Also after my new build is done I will be donating my first set of plastics to someone to start out with.. (dunno to wh

If you have the tools I would take it off asap....
for next time you could use a solid state relay? 13-15 bucks for piece of mind.

Hmm, ok
I am using a bench top 30 amp variable supply... I know there is no current issues...Do think a cap will still help?

Printing away until...... I turn off OR on on my bench light, magnifying light or room light.. then all is silent... Reset needed)
Any thoughts on how to stop this interference>? Any help from a electronics guru would be MUCH appreciated!
It's random and does not happen every-time... 3 out of 5 or so..
I did put everything on a filtered power strip and that did not help/// Thoughts?
Thanks

I had the same issue as you over and over and over until I used Nopheads idea and encased my extruder in copper.. I have not had a single issue since. Adrian also has a new extruder setup as well that looks to be solid...

Botmill / Techzone = Complete failure... I had a horrible experience as well. I don't think they actually rip anyone off but they DO sell things they do not have in stock to take YOUR money and do their bidding with it while you wait for the shipment to come...
Drop shipping from a company like Techzone is like cutting your brake line on your car and going for a race.... bad math........

You can do it with Repsnapper as long as you remove the "home" commands out of the generated g-code..It not hard at all...piece of cake!

Makerswamp, is your Z calibrated correctly? I use PLA as well on a heated bed with no issues at all... I do use blue painters tape though.. Maybe try that? I can say when my z was not close enough I had problems....
Question for you.... I too am using a 120v heating pad / thermocouple on a 5 mill cast bed,, how are you controlling your heater?
If its through software can you send me your firmwa

Has anyone got this working? If so can you please post your example?
I am using:
Makerbot electronics
Firmware reprap-mendel-20100806
AD595 thermocouple for temp control (works great) using A6
I would like to use another thermocouple to control the valve output for the heated bed using A7
ANY help is MUCH appreciated!

Below are parts printed with the "bogus" firmware. Are you having trouble compiling it? Did it actually get loaded?
The firmware I posted is the firmware I am using. I suppose it may not be compatible with your board? I doubt it though...
I think you are closer than you think you are.. Try reloading the test firmware and check your therm again it may work!
If you had makerbot stuff I would walk y

Problem is "reprap" can use many different types of electronics.. Think about this.. Is you order a electronic part for your car online.. does it come with instructions? most likely not.. if you hook it up wrong and fry it its all you.... With that said everyone has to learn....you are on a very hard step for someone without electronics experience.. your gonna take some dings...chalk it up to a V

Ok, I will throw it up this week! Btw, I bought my thermocouple from him as well and its not labeled wrong as far as I can tell... In MY opinion you should NOT return a item that you most likely damaged. Order this part and and replace it and you will be fine I bet... PART YOU NEED This project can certainly be frustrating but stick in there and you will win.
Last thing the V specs on that chip

There that was easy... See where it says servos and analog inputs? connect it to A6 make sure SIG,5V and GND are correct.

Analog input pin 6...can you take a closeup of your extruder board? I use a makerbot one so I am not familiar with yours...
Also links to any docs for your extruder...
I will try to help..
BTW I bought my thermocouple from the same guy.....

Here is the exact firmware that is in my machine....
you only need the thermocouple not both. did you make the thermocouple or buy it assembled?
btw mine is set to work on pin 6 you may need to change that.

I am sure the suggested combo works as some use it but it was not for me..... as soon as I changed to the thermocouple and heater block my extrusion problems went away!

Good work! I would take the time and get the thermocouple working,,, you will end up doing it in the end ... trust me don't waste endless amounts of time like I did! I had my "VOID" built with swiftness and then came the extruder...countless hours of Taliban quality torture........... I went to a thermocouple and a heater block...It saved my sanity!. I now can print high quality and will be fully
