Quotevegasloki Part of using open designs in a DIY build it having to go through and compile some things yourself. You are being provided a free design with excellent documentation and I don't understand the sense of entitlement because you can't be troubled to compile a few parts. QuoteRalph.Hilton looks fairly detailed to me. Helpful response. The lack of organizion is the first major problem. To find out what you need from the wiki's BOM you need to go through and add up parts. Not a big deal when you're dealing with a few different parts, but when you're taking about all those different screws... Oh, and the wiki's BOM doesn't even list all the parts. I'm trying to put together an accurate BOM for the Prusa i3 Hephestos (http://reprap.org/wiki/Prusa_i3_Hephestos ) and am running into some problems. Their build instructions are good, but the BOM is TERRIBLE (https://github.com/bq/prusa-i3-hephestos/blob/master/bom.txt). Bad formatting, lack of proper part descriptions, etc, etc... Is anyone else building one of these, or thinking about it? Theby SimianSteam - General Mendel Topics

Ok, follow up. I tried going back to stock firmware and modifying it as Replikeo suggests here(though I'm not using a Replikeo Rework kit, I'd assume things would be somewhat similar since the vast majority of the parts are the same.) That didn't work. X and Y were moving in the wrong direction, and trying to home on the side with no end stop. I then altered the code like so: #define INVERT_X_by SimianSteam - General Mendel Topics
I've been fighting this for three days, looking everywhere to try to get the info to figure it out and I just give up. I need help. I finished my Prusa i3 Rework build and am trying to get it calibrated. Unfortunately I cannot get the damn thing to home. I've uploaded the firmware from eMotion-Tech's site: (configuration.h file is shown below post as well) But I keep running into the same proby SimianSteam - General Mendel Topics
Quotemjrice I like the 20 x 4-line Smart controller. It gives enough information for basic monitoring, access to most everything from the knob interface, and has an SD card slot built in. Thank you!by SimianSteam - Reprappers

So, I'm finishing up my Prusa i3 Rework build and attending to the details. I bought some tubing to use as a filament guide, but I have absolutely NO idea how to use it. I'm using a Wade's Extruder w/ jhead hot end, and a sgrabder melamine frame. Help, please?by SimianSteam - General
Ok, I'm almost done with my base Prusa i3 Rework build and am looking towards future upgrades. First is going to be a LCD/SD reader unit. Looking at eBay I see several different basic versions. Can I get some opinions on which to go with, and what to avoid, please?by SimianSteam - Reprappers

When I was searching for a printer to build I saw that the i3 Rework listed an upcoming CNC attachment... Has there been any developments on this?by SimianSteam - General Mendel Topics
QuoteWizzard Wow, It is astounding how many people will write a book if they have problems and no one pipes up if everything goes ok.. I ordered a OneUp and a spool of PLA on thursday and It shipped in 3 days on sunday afternoon. (these folks are working weekends). USPS shows the shipment has been processed and is moving across the states. I have also looked online and found many happby SimianSteam - General
Update on my situation: Finally got a response from Chelsea. She promised a refund within 3-4 working days. That was a week and a half ago. Order shows as cancelled, no refund has appeared.by SimianSteam - General
Yes, RobotDigg is in China, but I got my stuff less than a week after I ordered it. Oh, and they sent me a custom length drive belt free.by SimianSteam - Reprappers
QuoteBratan Something I came across when building my Rework. 14mm m3 screws are too long to attach stepper motors to printed motor mounts! 12mm are perfect size. In fact a lot of 14mm m3 screws can be replaced by 12mm screws with better results (for example attaching z mounts to vertical metal plate). I also assembled printer with Y motor in front following instructions, but I don't see why it caby SimianSteam - Reprappers
Quotepumm3l QuoteSimianSteam I know I missed something. I always do. I'd rather find out now and be able to order it than pause the build while I'm waiting for that one part to come in. I've been poking around looking for this, but I haven't found anything. Probably looking in the wrong place, but I'm sure I'll get the answer here. The Mendel Platform's getting a little long in the tooth. What're the front-runners for the Gen3 platform?by SimianSteam - General
Just wanted to say that I'm keeping an eye on this, but I don't have anything to comment on until I have my printer built and know what I'm talking about. I appreciate all the observations and advice, though!by SimianSteam - Reprappers
So you're responding to stuff here, but not through the ticket system? Very nice. I've been trying to cancel the order I foolishly made before seeing the hole QU-BD dug themselves in for a week and all my tickets have been ignored. I should be good on hardware. Got the Hardware, Frame, Bearings, Printed Parts, and a few other things in a single package from an eBay seller for a good price. As long as I didn't miss anything major the whole build's coming in at around $420.by SimianSteam - Reprappers
Hmmm. Based off your spreadsheet it looks like I'm good. I need to pick up some Loctite and a new metric drill bit set, but I've got 2 Home Depots, a Lowes, and a Harbor Freight within 15 minutes of my house so no worries there. Thank you!by SimianSteam - Reprappers

Ah, OK. So coating the bed with Kapton is one of several possible options, but it's used in other parts of the build. I'll go ahead and order some and then play around with bed treatments once I finish the build. I'll be starting out with PLA and Blue Painter's Tape anyways. I am a little confused about the "easy cleaning" reasoning. What could be easier to clean than a sheet of glass???by SimianSteam - Reprappers
So, I've ordered almost all the parts for my Prusa i3 Rework (came in a tad over $400!), but I'm hung up on one little thing: Kapton tape. I've done a bit of searching and haven't been able to find a definitive answer. Do I need to cover the bed with Kapton tape if I'm using glass? Also, it looks like there's other places in the assembly that require Kapton, so what size(s) should I get?by SimianSteam - Reprappers
