Bought this on the forums but ended up having to go for a gecko g540/EMC for my project... still in the static bag in my desk drawer if anyone needs one... believe (off the top of my head) I paid $210USD after shipping + optos from Europe. Looking for $190 including shipping anywhere in the continental USAby Watanabe - For Sale
So after staring long and hard at the photos on the wiki and spending some time in the IRC channel I finally figured out what was going on with the design (overall extruded L shape, bed sliding in X axis under YZ) My question is about the use of drawer slides in that mockup. Looking around it seems that to get the proposed 48" of travel would require a pretty expensive drawer slide: or maybe Iby Watanabe - General New Machines Topics
I just ordered 5 6' steel beams off mcmaster... trying to reconstruct some CAD files from the photos on the wiki, figuring out what is going on/is necessary. Hoping to build the proposed build platform: 24" x 48" x 8". Although I have no experience building a mendel/etc... I've been making my own pc's forever (custom watercooling loops/etc) and have some experience with lasercutting/routing/3dprby Watanabe - General New Machines Topics
I'd love to get involved in the eiffel... as an architecture student the larger build area/cnc capabilities are highly appealing. On the wiki it says theres a blender file available "tomorrow" - is that still available? Is there a mailing list/forum specific to this project? Have access to all sorts of machining (pro 3d printers/cnc mill/6DOF robot arm/etc) but want my own personal build to avoidby Watanabe - Kartik M. Gada Humanitarian Innovation Prize
He has access to the same stuff I do I just bought a gen6 mobo from pzilla so we'll see what we can get up and running.by Watanabe - General
Currently a master's architecture student at U of Michigan. I'm interested in having my own 3d printer as the lines/usage of the above can get fairly congested at peak times (ie: end of a project, everyone's trying to output their work) but having my own printer on my desk would be fairly game-changing in terms of feedback between digital/physical models... I'm lucky enough to have access to aby Watanabe - General Mendel Topics
Are you in Michigan? U of m Ann arbor? Actually I'm a 2nd year(3g4) and thinking about building a Mendel as well. However the inability to print overhangs(think floors on a multilevel building is giving me second thoughts. Regardless, if you're from tcaup we should discuss our options given the great resources available to us.by Watanabe - General
