Hi, I’m looking for some help as I’ve run out of ideas at present, My prints are looking better slowly and I’m now trying to start sorting out sizes properly. The machine in question is a Nophead Prusa upgraded to LM8UU’s with Z rod stabilisers, no springs on the bed and its flat enough to print across the entire 200mm x 200mm area with no real issues, Electronics are Sanguinilolu with Marlin Fby ijmok - Reprappers
Rapidfire meet planning, I like it! Cant see any date or locations i wouldent be up for trying to attend thus far, Ledbury, Exeter and Cardiff are all pleasant drives Robby ijmok - West of England RUG
Hi tbod, Could you get a train and meet us on the 23rd of June? Sure we will have several on the go in various states of working for you to see, as well as plenty of advice, tips and pointers, you many even get luck and bag a mentor possibly even some parts free or charge or very nearly. See I live in Cheltenham, happy to offer a lift from any reasonable train station Robby ijmok - West of England RUG
Hey, Looks like you have all been busy plotting, good to see the RUG becoming more active, special thanks to Hamish here, Ive had a 6 week or so break from my RepRap but only to clear the final parts of my HNC (it doesn't take much to distract me) However ive handed in my final assignment and ive got the summer to breath life into her again, so if its ok i might pencil in the 23rd of June as mby ijmok - West of England RUG
Change the batteries in your existing set, I've had a few cheep ones now and the batteries shipped with them are always crappy New set of batteries and they work just as well as my Tesla work set Robby ijmok - Reprappers
Hi, Id be up for something, even happy to look into borrowing the hall again, but its fairly fully booked June/July time, throw in college, a holiday and a few other bits i cant see that being a possibility for the next one, so put me down for one early October? Still be up for something in June, just something i can appear at would be great, not sure its fair to land Hamish with it again, afteby ijmok - West of England RUG
Hi, 280 is WAY to hot, keep it to 240 possibly 250 max for ABS and under 200 for PLA when your getting to 280 the plastic burns creating black solids in your nozzle, you can clean this out using acetone (nail varnish remover) soak it out overnight I've been using J-Head's and its been much better than my first nozzle of a similar design to yours, only blocked it once but that was by going toby ijmok - Reprappers
Hi Mike, No pics yet, College has meant a self imposed ban on booting mine for the last month once all my work is handed in on the 22nd ill get cracking again, Came across this: Which mounts electronics under the bed on the 1.0 design, The 1.5 mounts the Y bars a tad higher by design but i can see a reason not to do a little mash up of the 2. Hopefully when ive finished the CAD design ofby ijmok - Reprappers
Thanks, Didn't think to search thingiverse, but i came up with a nearly identical solution in the mean time I was planning to add details to this thread for anyone else who posed the same question but it looks liek its been done rarther well Thanks again Robby ijmok - Sanguino(lolu)
Rich that would be great if you could push a UK BOM up for the 1.5, Mine is about 40% of the way through printing the 1.5 pieces, The holding spot is the intension to up the X&Y bars to 10mm, I like the retension system for the Max1.5 X ends so ill possibly go with that and add some meat so i can put in 10mm rod's They have uped the Z to 10 alredy and are now useing unconstrined Acme Leadby ijmok - Reprappers
Thank you All Just had a bash at one single small gear, with a even more ghetto fan (seriously shameful) - photo attached The news is good, Print was looking awesome but it popped off (to much fan I think) Ill throttle back and try again but not tonight as im off out in a min But to recap slow Feeds feeds and the fan and there isn't much stopping me now Thank you very much guys, Ill post aby ijmok - General
Thanks, Ill give these a go, Busy week ahead so don't expect a response before next Sunday but your ideas are appreciated NelsonRap: im printing the big and little together already to attempt to mitigate this, could try printing 2 sets i guess, but mopst of the issue appears to occur on the faces opposing each other on the print bed, Ill try and post some photos when i get to it Robby ijmok - General
Hi, Ive been trying to begin printing gears recently, Running a Nophead Prusa (about 1 year old) but with full LM8UU upgrades and upgraded Z couplers Printing using an original Wades and a J head MK 4 B and Sanguinololu, running Marlin Host is Pronterface and Slicing with Slic3r 0.71 if that's of any relevance, using Faberdashery Purple PLA The gears look workable in some light but especiallby ijmok - General
Looks Like your printing in PLA Typicly people print PLA with a bet temprature more like 60 - 65 degrees, Robby ijmok - Reprappers
Hi Everyone, Just thought id like to say thank you for a great day, Great to see all the exciting developments on our door step, as well as get a refresh to be more adventurous, When I got in I did as I always do and stripped the bed and rebuilt it minus the springs, seems to be working wonders for first layer issues, Since then I’ve put another 12 hours or so printing some concepts for my HNby ijmok - West of England RUG
Apply your Kapton to the glass like they apply Glass tints, Take the glass off the machine, cut the strips of Kapton and dump them in a sink with soapy water, When you apply them now they won’t stick instantly, (more soap = more slide) Use an old card to squeegee the excess soap out and let it dry (over night or a quick blast in the oven at the 100 mark will do it) just make sure its dry befoby ijmok - Reprappers
Excellent News, Its alive again! Think ill stop breaking it down and upgrading bits until the 25th of march, but loosing the PLA bushings was a great move, it eliminates so many areas of error, im now on full LM8UU over all Axis, ive been on them for the X axis for a while, the Y since early Jan and finaly the Z's in the week, each time the difference has been staggering I'm now thinking, to avby ijmok - West of England RUG
I've got at least one mate whose coming with me, He's never seen my machine yet, (its permanently broken i swear), but he's very interesting in getting hold of something Properly another friend as well although slightly more touch and go here, And ive been quizzed at work on behalf of a blokes daughters Tech teacher (no idea which school) again probed to attend, no further feedback here thougby ijmok - West of England RUG
Hi, Does anyone know if it is possibly to controll a fan via sanguino so Slic3r could power it up and down mid print? if so how? Robby ijmok - Sanguino(lolu)
Hi, Sure we can Offer a lift if it makes it easier, I was going to suggest this, As Hamish says it was really useful to see some of the best, and to gain an insight into what i can do to my example to improve it. Robby ijmok - West of England RUG
Brilliant, I've got just over a month to reassemble what I've disassembled tonight There wasn't much organisation on the Cheltenham meet from me, A Room and Power, Take it as a bare bones minimum, so it would be good for people to critique it and build on the experience (be viscous I wont take offence) Cadical's Cad tutorial seemed to go down well, Faberdasher's Challenge was a great ideaby ijmok - West of England RUG
Life! Tell me about it, Id open the hall up if i had more time, but i don't at present, hopefully later in the year So far as Big Doug's Protocol, it seems the only way, given enough notice i'm sure most people could rework things or accept they cant attend Looking forward to some news Robby ijmok - West of England RUG
Belated happy New Year to everyone aswell Just thought id bump to Suport the motion of a meeting at some point possibly? Where did you get with Ledbury in the end Hamish? Robby ijmok - West of England RUG
Hi I’ve Used Think 3d Print 3d several times, he’s a genuine guy and does great products in record time, First things first Unplug everything (inc your Pololu’s) (incorrectly wired end stops can cause disconnection problems) Plug it into the USB port only and ensure the drivers have installed correctly (device manager, windows 7 needs to check online for the correct driver) Only when this isby ijmok - Sanguino(lolu)
Hi Jamie, All resolved i think Seems where id been tidy and heatwraped my wiring id left a little bit uncovered on 2 of the extruder circuits * massive tit i know* Complete strip down, re terminated everything (crimped, soldered and glue gunned into there holders) and all seems better and more manageable. Hi, Not 100% Relevant to you per say but it happened to me other the weekend and is linked so thought id post it My Ramps was playing up badly – T0 showing up between 130 - 500 deg with nothing connected The thermostor read correctly on the bed input so that side seemed ok Probing about it seems my ramps board had got a bad joint on the thermistor pin into the arduno (analogue pin 8?) My soldering of the SMT (bought pre assembled Ive just added headers) What really odd is its worked ok since May when i first got it, in the last 2 months ive blown 3 chips, one was my fault (loose connection) Then the second one glitching as above which i replaced figuring id poked it in the wrong way and now this one Its getting expensive lol Thanks windcatcher, ill check it but it carriesby ijmok - Reprappers
Hi, Hopefully someone can give me some ideas of things to check here My Reprap was working well Suddenly mid print my Extruder stops extruding Checking the temp all seems good, even a little hand fed extrusion worked no problems Powered off and swapped X&E motors over, Extruder moved under X axis driver X didn’t under the extruder driver (I presumed overheating) Fan blowing across my rampsby ijmok - Reprappers
I’ve managed a pumpkin at 6 x 6 (no lid yet) and its screwed up a bit on the bottom, A DTI holder and some other bits and bobs, (ill get some pics at some point) Since you last saw it I’ve replaced the bead with a PCB one, replaced X&Y steppers and tidied wiring up a bit. Been busy with college so progress as usual has been slow, Dead thermistor has put a stop to play for a bit (hopefully thby ijmok - West of England RUG
