thats cool a great way to teach kids i think.by dissidence - General
i am a little disappointed by this thread so far, i was hoping to see some more good and productive things come out of it. it is sad to say that i do not recommend that just anyone build one of these, i do it so that in a few more years when things get more refined and easier to not only build but use, they will not have had the bad experience of trying to build it and put allot of money into itby dissidence - General
i have to agree with the first two posters, there are things with this project that are both good and bad, to me this is an engineers project, it is not for some one who is just joe blow from the down the steet, i have been learning allot has i go, and trying to make my own contributions, but i still dont even have a working repstrap yet, but that is changing. but my unit is a bit of a Frankensteby dissidence - General
if i remember they are set to half step on a 1.8 deg/step motor, most of mine are0.9deg/step so i am just doing full stepping untill i get it working and then i will try switching to half stepping.by dissidence - Controllers
you know the sad part is that i still do not have a working repstrap, i am getting there, but i am trying to learn all that i can and have had to come up with a few things on my own has well. i was asking pretty much just that on my blog not that long ago. and i was told about Joaz firmware from github i am hoping to see the official one support the mega soon, but from all i know you just haveby dissidence - Controllers
there are 2 or 3 different firmwares for the mega and i think they all use the out puts that the pololu boards need for there inputs. so in that regard, all you should need to changed is your pins for your outputs on the mega. if i remember rightby dissidence - Controllers
i must say you are the first person who has ever commented on the speed of the pololu the guys at ultimachine use them on there reprap,by dissidence - General
me i have no issues with recommending the pololu boards to other people. but i am not on the core team has far has i know, i know i have made my contributions on the wiki and so can you if you have anything to input.by dissidence - General
oh, i think there still out there on the edges, though they do seem to be gaining more momentum and more people do seem to be using them so far. though i do think they will make it into the hardware soon,by dissidence - General
its a idea worth trying i think, my only worry is it getting jammed up in there some how.by dissidence - General
i have a board similar to his and i have been able to get it to work, though, my reprap is still a work in progressby dissidence - General
i like your work though, you did make the board i was trying to make, but was unable to with my version of eagle. but i do like your board allot though, i would like to try it some time. but for now i should work on getting my beast running. but over all good work on yours looks cool at the very least. you may find these handy they will help at the very least, i have ordered a set for my selfby dissidence - General
here is what i could find micro stepping mendle is stock set to 1/2 step. also keep in mind the more torque you add with the little pot the hotter the steppers run and the drivers too. so that is also an issue too.by dissidence - General
another thing you have to keep in mind when micro stepping is not just speed, but also torque, i forget if it is after 1/2 or 1/4 but after that you start to loose allot of torque, and also from what i have read repeatability can also be an issue with micro stepping, those are some very key issues you have to remember, that is why i am trying to just use .9 deg stepper motors. verses going to micby dissidence - General
this is good, saskatoon would be a bit far for me but i am glad too see more people who are interested, the sad part is that i will need a few more parts printed for my project soon. i am very glad too see more people who are interested in this projectby dissidence - Saskatchewan RUG
at some point in time i would like to have a meet up for all of the people in Sask who are building a reprap or have one, or who are just interested in building one, dose any one have any ideas where or when would be good.?by dissidence - Saskatchewan RUG
hey cool thank you for that, hopefully we can find some new people who are interested in the reprap here now.by dissidence - Saskatchewan RUG
i think i will order a 5 or 10 watt one for me i still need to get my design closer to the point where i need one. i think i am going to use the 6in x 6in one myselfby dissidence - Controllers
me i am thinking i will go the route of those silicone rubber heaters, they are by far the least trouble some way to do it i think. i will try to make my own controller for it, so that i can have it controlled by my arduino so that i do not have to think about it too much, but yes i can see why some one would like to use a proper controller for it.by dissidence - Controllers
i would buy right from seed there shipping is cheap, and registered i have orderd a few things from them already and so far no issues at all and if you look at my blog you can see my arduino mega pololu driver board that i am trying to makeby dissidence - Sanguino(lolu)
so far it has been a really good board to me, it is the exact same just a different color, but so far it is the same. about the only issue i have had with it has been the usb connector and power connecter seem to limit the use on some proto boards, but that is not a fault of this maker i think there are a few others out there too that use the same parts, but ya so far i am more than happy withby dissidence - Sanguino(lolu)
my friend sent me this link, for silicone rubber heaters, they seems like a great way to make a heated bed for printing, they have the range that we need and come in allot of sizes. silicone rubber heaters but i think i may go this route, seeing just how much trouble this may save me.by dissidence - Controllers
i can still see bare metal needs more duck tapeby dissidence - Controllers
you might have to do what i did, and just get creative with what you can find. and buy what you needby dissidence - General
i tried to post some gerber files on thingiverse but i am not sure if they are any good but here is a pic of what i have done so far here is the link for thingiverse mackenzie shield i only have the free version of eagle so i hope it worked out well enough for people to work with it. and for me to finish my project with out having to buy eagle edit oh ya i am trying to make a wiki page but tby dissidence - Controllers
sounds like when i have mine stepping too fast, i am still building my unit so i am not perhaps the best source but thats what it sounds like to meeby dissidence - Controllers
ah i thought it was more yahoos doing, but i can see how that would all kinda make for a not so nice mess. thank though for doing it i do like it allot.by dissidence - General
has much has i like rss feeds, i do like the blog of blogs, i find it gives me more of what i am looking for.by dissidence - General
