dc42, what dimensions you can print?by Treito - Fisher
It is hart to explain especially if you have to explain it in a language where you are not really familar with, let me try: My original X-runner part got weak and lost easily the big rod. So I printed a new one and of course in ABS (if I have to do so, I did not want to exchange this later). But I got a little bit warping and especially shrinking. So the M3 nut barely fits in the slot but thereby Treito - Ormerod
I had this problem also with a cylindric object. It is betting getter know. My main issue probably was the angle of the hot end nozzle. I temporarly fixed this for the moment. In fact as I wrote above I printed roughly 10 cylindric object (I did not count them) with PLA because the dimensions did not fit. It has an outer diamter and two holes on the inside. one is roughly 19.1 mm und 12mm heightby Treito - Ormerod
So do I understand an other thread correct that maybe there is some kind of problem in the dc42-fork that maybe can cause that circles are not circles and this problem is maybe less in RRP or ZPL firmware?by Treito - Ormerod
I am getting really good quality prints with 1.09a-dc42. I did not get so good looking prints before. Especially holes are smoother. I did not get something. Dave, you say that the old code was better in some ways. The strange think is that ZPL wants to add this new movement to his firmware, too because it has better movements. I tried 1.09-RPL for a short time but the sounding from the motors waby Treito - Ormerod
Many thanks for the attached files. I learned "Autodesk Inventor" and I do not know how tu use the commands in Openscad especially if it is getting complicated like Helix and Sweep. The using of Freecad is more or less similar to Inventor. Freecad uses also the Opanscad engine as far as I know. I cannot do the tests right now. I exchanged my extruder to a new one. Unfortunately I printed it in Hby Treito - Ormerod
Hello, many thanks that you will check your firmware. BTW I found this: Quotedc42btw using my fork of RepRapFirmware, you don't have to use the relative extruder plugin for Cura, because I fixed the bug with absolute extruder moves in the original firmware many months ago. Also, you can get round the T1/T0 numbering using the an extension to the M563 in your start gcode - see the note towards thby Treito - Ormerod
Thanks for the reply, unfortunately Cura does not support relative extrusion. They tell something like every printer understands the command for absolute extrusion but not all can do relative extrusion and besides they tell that absolute extrusion is more precise. There was an old version which supported relative extrusion with a trick but this does not work anymore. RRP 1.09 does have other movby Treito - Ormerod
I printed also a circular tile with the same problem. I have ten pieces or so. Okay I designed this part with Freecad so how Do I can check the number of lacets?by Treito - Ormerod
Hello, Slic3r uses relative extrusion length, but Cura uses absolute extrusion length. So If I pause a model sliced by Cura and pause the print the filament gets unloaded. Is there any way to fix this problem without changing Slic3r to absolute filemant extrusion and to keep the retract in the pause command? Regards, Svenby Treito - Ormerod
Hello, thanks for the reply. We are talking about roughly 0.5mm difference and 0.5mm to small. For example the extruder gears should be 47.96mm x 47.96mm and the printed one have 47.00 x 47.5mm. That would be hard to see at pictures. The round one was printed with many many other parts (round about 25 meters of filament). There was a problem with one or two layers during this print but the dimenby Treito - Ormerod
What software do you use? BTT: But why my circles are not circles in the center of the bed but they are circles at the edges of the bed you cannot answer, right? Anybody else? Where I have to look for this error?by Treito - Ormerod
Thanks for this detailed answer. It makes sense, but opening the spool-spigot Slic3r tells me that the dimensions are 17.00x16.96x53.00. And there are no teeth.. Okay I have a problem up to 0.5mm depending on the print position.by Treito - Ormerod
Hello, I need further help with this issue. I also had found a problem regarding the x-carriage. The small rod is a little bit too small, so I fixed this temporarly until I am ablte to print a new one (ABS won't stick, but that is another problem). Now I have still a strange problem. If I try to print a circle alone in the middle of the bed it is not round, but if I print a round part (like theby Treito - Ormerod
Maybe you should give Cura a try. The preview is not as goog as in Slic3r. It seems to bridge also, but it seems to overlap so you will not have any holes. But be warned. Cura can not extrude relative only absolute.by Treito - Ormerod
Okay I was not sure. So he does not have to change something here.by Treito - Ormerod
So I think that appjaws is right because he designed them. Nevertheless I first have to have some replacement just in case and the design of ZPL seems to be better in my eyes. But I want to have these tiles if the printer is really going to be quieter. I also replaced the fan. The original one was broken after a very short time and the new one is much quieter.by Treito - Ormerod
I was not able to print them yet. Luckily I have to say. But I heard they should be placed under the motor. So I have to print a new lower mount first. Or is the Ormerod 1 not affected?by Treito - Ormerod
Which firmware release introduced the new connection for the distance sensor? And which version needed to turn the X-axis motor?by Treito - Ormerod
Quotezombiepantslol I believe those parts are identical. I exchanged the z-lower-mount of my Ormerod 1 a while ago and modified it to use M4x12 cap head screws instead of the countersunk ones, see here: Now I am a little bit afraid. Because I had some issues with my printer at the moment I replace some parts with newer an better one (at the moment I try to print the spring loaded extruder for eby Treito - Ormerod
I do not know, if this helps. First file: Now connection. Interesting thing is that I got an error "Cannot connect to Duet Firmware.". Maybe it is caused that I am temporarly using Windows instead of Linux, but the problem is the same. In second file I have opened Firefoy with a connection in parallel. It worked until I closed FF and restartet the Ormerod. The file extension is missing. I used pcby Treito - Ormerod
Why you do not use this? I cannot test it, but it seems to be what you need.by Treito - Ormerod

I did not get good results using cura with the original file, but Slic3r 1.2.6. works really good for me.by Treito - Ormerod
When printing ABS you have temperatures roughly 100°C +/- 10°C. It was only meant as a warning. Maybe you should use then water with a temperature round about 30°C for example. Or cooling it slowly down. The next one maybe will have an idea to use Cool down spray or how this is called?by Treito - Ormerod
KISSlicer is partly free, the full version costs around 40-50$, i think. So I gave up even testing it.by Treito - Ormerod
Hello Erik, what else can we use instead of Slic3r? I have no problems with 1.2.6. regarding the print quality. I tested Cura also. Sometime better sometimes not. Hard to say.by Treito - Ormerod
QuoteDarathy Sticks so strong i cant get it loose untill it coolsdown(i usualy just take the glass off and put it under water) and it just falls off xD Be careful, because of the high temperature difference the glass could break.by Treito - Ormerod
