I had this same problem, but it was not the fault of Slic3r, Cura, etc. It was not mechanical in nature either. What was causing this for me was my acceleration settings in the Marlin firmware and in Slic3r. I have a home built Prusa i3, and I had been using an acceleration speed on the Y axis of about 1500, both in the firmware and in the Slic3r software. I reduced that to 1000 and also loweredby Lauhaus - Printing
Hello, I installed the RepRapDiscount Full Graphic Smart Controller, and it is working very well when the USB cable is plugged in. I can run prints, adjust settings, etc. However, when I disconnect the USB cable from my Ramps 1.4/Arduino Mega the display shuts down. How can I keep it powered on without the usb?by Lauhaus - RAMPS Electronics
Hello again, I found this discussion, which seems to describe what you and I have experienced. http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,136188,136321 So it is hopefully an issue to do with the homing speed in the Marlin firmware causing the z motors to miss steps. I haven't tried the fix yet, but I'm hopeful.by Lauhaus - General
This will be entirely unhelpful, but I'm experiencing the same problem. Z axis moves well in 1 or 10mm increments, but makes a loud vibrating sound almost instantly when I try to home the z axis. I'm also building my first printer. For what it's worth I thought it was mechanical, but problem persists even after disconnecting z rods from the motors. I'm building a prusa i3 type machine.by Lauhaus - General
Thanks Waitaki, I plugged in a different thermistor and everything is fine, problem solved. I think I did a poor job of wrapping my thermistor wires in Kapton tape, or the tape became "untaped" over time and the two wires made contact with each other.by Lauhaus - RAMPS Electronics
Hello All, as soon as I connect via Pronterface I get the following error from my hotend thermistor: Error:Temperature heated bed switched off. MAXTEMP triggered !! Errorrinter stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. My Marlin settings are configured correctly for the thermistor that I am using: #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 1 #define TEMP_SENSOR_1 0 #define TEMP_SENSOR_2 0 #defby Lauhaus - RAMPS Electronics
