Ah yeah I was hoping I could make this work but I think you are right. Thanks for the responses!

Thanks, Gordon. I would do that too but the fan does not look like it will fit to clear the groovemount holes and if I rotate the fan it hits the 8mm smooth rod... ah so frustrating

Has anyone mounted a direct drive E3Dv6 on an x-carriage successfully? Every design I come across the fan always interferes with the mount.
This is the closest I have found but the fan still hits the 8mm smooth rod
Thanks for any advice

What size nozzle? Have you calibrated your e steps to the best you can? If not, I would start there and give it a 10mm feed, calibrate, then a 100mm feed and calibrate. Then as an added bonus print a single wall cube. Measure the width and compare it to the slic3r gcode file width. Then at least you can eliminate the possibility that your e steps aren't calibrated.
Depending on nozzle size I'd

Wow, have used 0.9.8 for a few hours now, very impressed from 0.9.7.... have been using 0.7.2b just because of all the issues I was having with 0.9.7, looks great so far with no blobs on layer change.
Thank you slic3r!

Yeah I get these consistently with the latest version.... always at a layer change
.7.2b seems to be a really popular version as well which is what I downgraded too and the prints are awesome.
So weird how it fixes this problem with a well calibrated machine
