In case anybody is having trouble getting 1st layer to stick when printing with Repraper PLA, here is what i do to get them to stick to the print surface.
1.) Glass is a no-no, so far i can't get the pla to stick to glass yet.

Hi Jonas,
You can easily find 10mm linear rods in MK, LM8UU or LM10UU linear bearing are easily available too. I bought the extrusions, leadscrews and leadscrew nuts directly form misumi, you just need to send an email to their HK office and get someone to give you a quote. You will need to use a company to do it, they don't sell to individuals.
Are you starting form scratch or do you already

Not because of higher melting point, but not being able to get

I am planning to wire up a click encoder too when it comes in the mail. So will be able to test that too :-) I am all for hostless printing. So much more convenient.

I have a 20x4 LCD + Keypad combo configured to run with SJFW and Marlin. So if you need a hand testing, i can volunteer.

i had the same issue as you, happen after switching to Marlin. Got it under control by tweaking retraction. For me, i had to reduce retraction length to 1mm and retraction speed to 17.

How about the Makergear hotend? $75+shipping... not cheap.. but since MG is in the US, should still be a little cheaper after shipping.

Great Post, may be you can post a normal picture of the hotend? Should be interesting to compare the two.
