Is the connector on the reset jumper on, is the board being powered by the USB,
Are file preferences set in arduino 23.
Is the avrdude file in the right place and the right version?
Hope this helps

Sorry , electronics is not my strongest and I would hate for you to burn something out on my advice.
I used these instructions when I built my Mendel,
Good luck
Edit, I did not mention Amps, I said 0.6 to 0.8 Volts

Not sure if understand what you are asking, but if it is Z steps, then
1 revolution of the stepper motor is 3200 steps divided by the pitch
So 3200 / 0.8 = 4000
Hope this helps

@nophead,
You have mentioned your own software once or twice before, of all the slicer programmes I have heard people talking about, yours sounds the most intriguing. Would it be available to us tinkerers or can we look forward to it being released in the future?
With flow rates, I have a home made nozzle of 0.17 mm made out of silver and print at 0.05 layer height, the extruder gear goes round

You might try perimeters =1
I have been racking my brain over the .8 mm walls on your thin wall print
and I'm sorry to say that it has me stumped.
It should only be laying down 1 line of filament on each layer
and about the same width as your nozzle, why it is building 2 walls with a fill in between I have no idea,
I shall keep thinking about it though!
Lets hope someone more knowledgeable wil

I used fine drill bits to measure mine, not very scientific I know, but a .4 passed through and a .45 did not!,
so it was definitely not .35.
Under print settings, layers and perimeters , what are your settings.
Edit: maybe a silly question, but you did use the .5 thin wall.stl found on this page didn't you

From my experience with different size nozzles, the walls of the 0.5 mm thin wall object should be
about the same width as the nozzle, so with your 0.35 mm nozzle your walls should definitely
not be .8 or .9
What are your settings in slic3r for, advanced under print settings and perimeters under print settings.
Are you sure your nozzle is .35, I only ask as I bought a .35 nozzle and it turned ou

Poppen,
may I ask what size nozzle you are using.
also what is the measured thickness of the walls of the .5 thin wall print,
it looks to me as though there is some fill on the top layer in your photo, I think the print should be only 1 extrusion width wide.
With the 20 mm box the gaps between perimeters is like laminating and could have something to do with layer width settings.
Hope this is

Which version of the Mendel?
If you post the github link it may be helpful to identify which
one you are after.

Does it not come up when you connect pronterface to your printer?
I have a melzi controller, so I don't know the other controllers.
It may be M501,
Here is the wiki for gcode
Good luck
Edit, added signature.

Apart from a little too much being extruded, I can't see a lot wrong with your most recent prints,
I have attached a photo of the same part ( the old version) that I have printed myself.
I do NOT recommend messing about with X and Y steps unless the printed object is the wrong size.
I also attach a set square stl which is 100 mm x 100 mm for you to print and measure, this can be used to set

Well deserved win Steve, as one of the first people to help me when I started out 5 months ago, I am very pleased to see it was you who won.
I see you are still using the 0.25 mm nozzle and able to get layer heights between 0.05 and 0.2 from it.
Inspired by your print quality, this weekend I made my own nozzle, it is about 0.2 mm and I am now tweaking the settings at 0.1 layer height,
and shall t

Are the teeth on the extruder gears meeting properly,
they should be a snug fit, no free play but not too tight.
Is the filament slipping on the hobbed bolt.
You may get better help if you post this in the section for your machine.
Good luck

Well done, that's progress.
I would suggest reducing the E steps slightly, " Edit 1: ( M92 E*** and M500 to save) " ,looks like
a bit too much is being extruded.
A small fan might also help when doing the thin wall object, you could try printing a part
from your Mendel, a clip or the idler for the extruder. Gives you something to compare to.
I am sure you could increase the speed a little wit

And I have been thinking about this.
I think I understand the mathematics of dividing steps, but as Nophead said, "1 step is 0.000390625 mm on the Z axis " ,
and extruding molten plastic from a 0.5/0.4 mm nozzle , I would think this is unlikely to make much difference.
I shall try some experiments.
Whole numbers for X and Y steps however, does not make sense to me. It means that over a print

I very much agree with all of bigfilsing's last post, the 0.5 mm thin wall and the 20 mm boxes are your friends.
The picture you posted looks like the belt guide I recommended, I have printed a few of them
and the wall should be no thicker than your nozzle. It looks to me as though there is either too much
filament being extruded or if you are using slicer then more than one perimeter is set.

Finally, after many, many tries I got one to print, it wont win any prizes but I am happy.
Still many improvements to make though. Lots of curling and string still.
Been printing now for about 5 months, last week I decided to try out the .35 mm nozzle
for the first time, better prints but does take longer!

Openscad, the code said it was created with nettfab!
I can't answer the question of why it worked for me but not for you, sorry.
