Hi Chris, The reading at the fan connector on the Melzi is 11.7-11.8Vby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi guys! The other day I sent a print and came back to see a mess. Printing another file made it clear that the problem was the fan was not turning on (I'm printing ABS). What I've tried: - M106 / 107 on pronterface : Fan not turning on - Setting fan to work all the time while printing on slic3r : No result - Changing to another fan : No result Could someone perhaps guide me using a multi-meteby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hot water wasn't enough.I eventually used a mini-torch with a hot head to melt and distort the lump of plastic that was blocking + needle nosed pliers.by sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi fellas, My hot head got clogged, I disassembled it and realized its blocked up-high where the filament enters the heating element. Any tips on how to remove it? I tried heating to 230 but the heat is not reaching up there to make it rubbery enough to insert some tool and pull or clean. Should I drill it? Thanks!by sharonf88 - Mendel90
hi, wanted to update that it was the usb cable extension i put on the one supplied in the kit.by sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi Guys, Woke up to a surprise error just out of the blue: When I try to reconnect now it only shows the error msg. Tried: turning on off, disconnect cables, checking connectors, restarting pc (tried google and these were the proposed solutions). Everything was fine until yesterday (no hardware changes or anything) What do you think?by sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi Neil, Tried cura gain with your settings to slice, uploaded to pronterface and when i start the print the extruder goes into place but just stays there doing nothinh. The temp. graph on pronterface shows room temp on both bed and extruder instead of warming up. Something with the start end gcode on cura perhaps? Also, How can i rotate models on Sic3r? That's the main reason i want to use Curaby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Update: modeled a simple 10X10X10 mm cube to test for accuracy. Used slic3r with 0.1mm layer height and settings recommended by forum members. Print was centered and it started off fine, but somewhere along the way it got warped on the sides. Measured with a digital caliper and it is indeed a perfect ten (ha ah!) on all sides before it warps. Test android (pre sliced by nophead) with this filby sharonf88 - Mendel90
I changed the settings through Cura and used the start and end gcode from neil: Now the pronterface shows the sliced object in the middle of the bed but after the extruder goes into the place nothing happens. On pronterface I see the thermistor graph lowering temp slowly like it shut downby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi, I'm trying to use the latest version of Cura to slice my print but when I upload it to pronterface it shows and prints them off center (sometimes with objects off the build plate). My printer setting on pronterface for the build plate are 200X200X100 with X Y offset -100 On cura i chose the Prusa mendel i3. What should be the machine settings? the defualt shown is 198X185X200 Also I wouldby sharonf88 - Mendel90
If anyone encounters this "problem" here was the solution: Nophead directed me to the D-Connector and sure enough he was right. I viced it diagonally. img hostby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi guys, Daniels, I copied the files to my pc and still. It does work on one of my laptops though. I don't fully understand though, I'm suppose to have the option to choose the melzi board through arduino ide tools and upload the code to the melzi via usb or is it already loaded? I apologize in advance my electrical skills are still in development :-) I actually had to google to learn how to meby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi Neil, When i click to open the 1.0.6 that comers with the kit it pops up and closes instantly. For some reason it only works if i download and install. I dled 1.0.6 but still i dont see an option to pick the melzi board on tools thanks,by sharonf88 - Mendel90
And my config.h settings (default): #ifndef __CONFIGURATION_H #define __CONFIGURATION_H // Mendel90 hobbed bolt and 39:11 Wade's gears #define E_STEPS_PER_MM ((3200 * 39.0)/(11.0 * 6.75 * 3.142)) // This configurtion file contains the basic settings. // Advanced settings can be found in Configuration_adv.h // BASIC SETTINGS: select your board type, temperature sensor type, axis scaling, anby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hello reprapers! This is my first build of a 3d printer, im at page 68 following nophead's manual. 1. page 68 it says to use tools to set the board to melzi w/atmega. I don't see that option (pic1) 2. I skipped to page 70 for Testing (and replaced the .ini file for pronterface). Power up is good, limit switches are good, but that's about it. none of the motors, heated bed or thermistor seem toby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Ohh now I see. Thank you Nophead and neildarlow Nophead, I've looked through the folders on github today and yesterday and couldn't locate an assembly fileby sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi fellas, I'm having trouble understating where the M6 brass nut goes on the threaded rod. "Thread the M6 brass buts onto the bottom of the lead screws... These eventually seat in the nut traps in the top of the X ends" Do we clamp the x_end on the brass nut? Doesn't seem like it could fit there. Also, Where could I find a cad assembly of the printer? I feel like it would solve a lot of misby sharonf88 - Mendel90
I figured it out. Used the wrong clamps (Duh.)by sharonf88 - Mendel90
Hi everyone I have a problem assembling the rods, Z axis clamps and x idler. The side where the x_clamps are is not parallel to the gantry moving up and down the rods. I've tried loosening and tightening the z axis clamps screws & motor screw (attaching to the gantry) with no luck. Replacing the rods with the second made no difference either (thought maybe it was crooked) and this problem oby sharonf88 - Mendel90
