If you'd care to pass on more info about this 'bridging' technique I would be happy to learn!by DGC PartWorks - General

Is there any reason to limit yourself to the capabilities of an ATX supply? Here's a good one that would handle the load you specify for under $40 US: 12V, 12.5A (150W) That same supplier has similar models at 200W, 320W and 400W if you want more power overhead. B-by DGC PartWorks - General
I've been using Slic3r and I like it for it's ease of use and features. I would like to see a feature added to help with creating hollow parts, though. Low density infill helps to reduce weight and material, but there's a limit to how low you can go without having problems bridging over the gaps when laying down the top layers. Making a part hollow is the best solution for low weight, but thenby DGC PartWorks - General
The Printrbed from Printrbot seems like it might be a good solution for adding a heated bed to my Mendel, but I emailed them two days ago asking for more info and still haven't gotten any response. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this particular product or on their experiences in dealing with the company in general. Here's the link: Printrbed 8x8 I wanted to know what voltage the dby DGC PartWorks - General
Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate all the input on this issue of bed configurations used/tried with ABS. It's apparent that there are varying methods being used, and many new ideas being pioneered. That's the beauty of a community like this. I see quite a consensus around heated beds, but I'm a ways away from being able to implement that feature on my machine, so I'll continue to experimeby DGC PartWorks - General
The main problem I see with hosting such a repository on reprap.org is that the site is painfully slow. If performance could be improved it would be much more viable as a place to go for design data, which is inherently bandwidth hoggy.by DGC PartWorks - General
I've been reading a lot on this forum and it's hard to see that there's any consensus on this. If there's a detailed discussion somewhere that I've missed, please feel free to point me to it. I'm running a non-heated bed (original Mendel) and I've found that ABS (3mm, white, 230°C) won't even think of sticking to the blue painter's tape that was so good for PLA. What have you guys been successby DGC PartWorks - General
Yes, I think the machine deserves a good looking over when I get a chance. I'm also developing plans to do some re-wiring and re-positioning of the electronics for convenience and reliability, but for now I'm just pumping out test parts in an attempt to get my brain wrapped around the subtleties of 3D printing. Fun! B-by DGC PartWorks - General Mendel Topics
Actually, the endstop switch had died altogether. It's an SPDT so I wired it the other way around, switched the logic in the firmware and voila! I'm making crappy prints again! Now I can focus on making the quality right instead of goofing with the darn machine. Thanks for the pointer, James Brian-by DGC PartWorks - General Mendel Topics
I'm working with a Mendel that I bought pre-built, supposedly working. I set it up to use Repetier Host and Repetier Firmware. I got all the settings in the firmware correct so that all 3 axes move smoothly, in the correct direction, the correct amount, and they all home properly to the installed endstop switches (mechanical switches). I verified that it runs fine multiple times by using the mby DGC PartWorks - General Mendel Topics
I'm new, too, so consider this just a suggestion, but you might want to look at pins.hby DGC PartWorks - Firmware - mainstream and related support
I just got a Mendel with an Arduino Mega 2650 and what appears to be a RAMPS daughterboard. I don't know what firmware is in it (and likely won't be able to find out) but as it is I get massive communication errors. GCodeWriter.getresponse() dud response from RepRap etc. etc. I get this error over and over. It never responds to manual commands from the XYZ tab, but if I try to print a gcode fby DGC PartWorks - Firmware - mainstream and related support
Great idea and lots of support. As an Engineer and designer of light automation machines I would be interested in providing technical content when possible.by DGC PartWorks - RepRap magazine
