Hi I have been trying to make the bed as solid and repeatable as possible so I can basically calibrate and forget it, in the process I decided to fix the bed to 4 linear bearings on an aluminium plate, while looking at this I also decided that the distance between the bottom rails leaves the bed overhanging contributing to the floppy nature of the construction so I have increased the distance froby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi dc42 the heat spreader in the original design is between the heater pcb and the glass so it is at risk of shorting the tracks of the heater if the solder resist layer breaks downby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi appjaws1 I have printed the snowman sample piece at the standard temp of 205 and 65 for the bed and it printed ok I would say it wasn't stuck to the bed as well as some other filaments I have used, for example the red from the same range stuck really well and I have used the gold and that was good too anyway pics attached. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi appjaws1 I have a roll of that here unopened I will try it at my normal settings and see if it sticks.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
sounds like a bit of a con, I looked on ebay for 1.4kg reels but the only listing I could find was from printme 3d, I had one of their reels it turned out to be a standard 1kg reel but they are claiming the reel holder and packaging are part of the weight, have you weighed yours?. Mine printed ok at standard temperatures but still feel conned. maybe it depends on the colour your using.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Mykey, thanks for the suggestion I had forgotten about the powerline option I even have some I got free with something a while back so I might try that. @ dc42 it sounds feasible as long as the ormerod just sees an Ethernet connection it should work anything more than that it seems doomed to failure at the moment.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Anyone got any ideas how we could connect the ormerod via WIFI instead of the Ethernet option, we have many areas where we would love to use the printer without a pc but where a wired Ethernet connection is unavailable.. I know Icing on the cake but it would be very useful.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Me Too Kwikius, I dread to think what the cost would be if I added up the hours I have already spent modifying the printer and checking the forum. I guess its a good job I married the company secretary LOL But seriously I could have bought a high spec ready made model and saved money but the experience gained by going through this process is worth it. @ dc42 I have seen your thread elsewhere reby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Kwikius, yes that could work, but I wonder what the possibilities of having 2 plates on the ducts and using the metal plate under the bed to just proved capacitive coupling between them, that way the sensor would be self contained attached to the hot end. regards Mikeby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
I am putting this idea out there because I think its possible to print most of the parts required and modify ormerods existing parts to accommodate it. As far as I can see there are still a few drawbacks to the existing arrangement in particular:- Affected by ambient light Affected by the table material and reflectivity Needs to be placed only where the foil is present My idea is to create a lby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Thnx dc42 sounds great. I will try it later, still have several hours printing the venus statue first.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Iamburny Just wanted to thank yourself and dc42 for the great work you have done on this, I can finally upload files and although its slow at least with the progress indicator I know whats happening and I wont have to keep taking out the memory card which has already been corrupted once by this. The addition of the z probe readings and the additional g code buttons makes it a dream to set upby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
I haven't looked at the schematic for the power here but if it was just powering the heater then a simple transformer rectifier supply would suffice, the caps have no purpose in a heating circuit, a simple heatsink with a meaty rectifier would mean no fan requirement and high reliability.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
I bought some from china but the quality is so poor you can feel the bearings turning as if they are not round so if anyone can suggest a source of reasonably priced quality bearings I would be interested. Although I cant help I think as a community we should come together and at least provide a name for the work of art your calamity produced .by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi dc42 that was along the lines I was thinking as it was your modified deflector I chose, unfortunately having spent hours modifying it I now realise the new fan has 9 blades, I modified it to take the screws at the bottom but as with anything I do on Sketchup I spent more time repairing the file because of its poor stl import routine. Maybe I need to go back and modify the original as I have aby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Due to the fan making spurious noises I decided to find a replacement, the fan I have chosen is only 10mm Deep and will allow the duet enclosure to be mounted back to its original position. Part number from RS is 492-4326. According to the data sheet it has a life of 500,000 hours due to the ceramic bearings the Flow rate is specified as 12.2m3/hr in the catalogue but 5.26 litres per min inby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi thanks markbee and droftarts I will give it a try when I have finished rebuilding my unit, ill post a separate topic for what I am changing later. lots of ideas but limited time.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Markbee that looks good, I am wondering if its possible to just print the outside layers at 10 microns to improve the finish, it would mean 24 loops around the outside then infill with 240 microns.by Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
Hi Everyone this is my first post on here, I bought my machine last week and so far I have had several problems, the first of course being the many omissions in the build instructions, The board fixing holes not being drilled correctly. The 5V supply problem. I have also had problems with the Laser cut parts the X rib was a few millimetres too short and the end snapped off when trying to pressby Mickyblueeyes - Ormerod
