Hi Rayhicks , Thanks for your suggestion , seems pronterface not stable for Mac. I will try repetier , thanks !by tru168 - Ormerod
I searched on WWW and found someone facing the same pronterface problem but no solution yet. Thats means I have to stuck half way commissioning my Ormerod until found a solution :-(by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, Can you show me how please? 7 hours of trying just for the pronterface without luck !!by tru168 - Ormerod
Still getting " Pronterface error , terminate" on my IMAC , I follow instructions in the commissioning page. after that I download from and it works but I can't see any "GET POS " button... need help.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi , EDIT : Well, sorry for the topic , just found a solution and try out now .........by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi , Same problem here, but just solved about minutes ago. Bad USB cable ! Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi TMD_RS436 , Thanks for reminding me about the X motor direction , I almost missed that point . Thanks ! Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi DC42, RepRap Pro staffs must be very tiered already. No problem , I remove the pin and swap it , Thank you ! Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, I have a problem here, need help. all stepper motor wire loom colour sequence will be Red-Blue-Green-Black , but my extruder colour code is Blue-Red-Green-Black, may I know if it is correct one or the wire loom come with wrong sequence ?by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Dc42, Thanks for your info. after half an hour of filing, still a little bit of tilt on the screw. I ended up with Dremel the nut trap deeper and viola ! Thanks ! Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
As a freelance photographer, I just keep my spare rolls of filaments in electric dry cabinet which supposed to be used for camera equipments. I can get USD80 for a 26 liter dry cabinet locally, and electric consumption just merely 5 watts.by tru168 - Ormerod
Erik, Thanks for info. No problem as long as it slide smoothly I think.by tru168 - Ormerod
Jpp, I'm a good example here , I wait for 1 month from messed up order from RS . And received it by yesterday finally. I'm thinking of cancel order before this, because of the long wait and also flaws that had been reported on forums. Treth explained to me about the challenge and fun to build , and I decided not to cancel the order. I spent 6 hours to complete the mechanical parts, and I wilby tru168 - Ormerod
I'm installing the adjustable bearing and x carriage now , I found that the screw holding the adjustable bearing will tilt out wards when I tighten it, leave a 2.5mm of gap between plexi glass and bearing.I noticed that the x carriage printed part seems not flat on its surface, in fact, it warp and tilt a little outwards actually. I carefully file the surface for the bearing to sit on, hope thatby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi , Just received Ormerod kit from RS after a long wait. I test fit the linear bearings and found that 3 of linear bearing can slide smoothly but can't turn smoothly, i can feel resistance when turn it. My LM6uu bearings for 3DR delta printer can turn smoothly, and also several LM8uu on my small CNC machine also turns smoothly. Is it normal?by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi all, I might getting an Ormerod from RS which will be ship 6th-Jan , or 15th-Jan. ( I don't know which batch but I'm still waiting for the shipment since 15th Dec. ) May I know the included power supply still a PC PSU ? or upgraded to more reliable one ? Is it possible to print ABS using the included PC PSU successfully ?by tru168 - Ormerod
Hmmm... Strange that the Ormerod not tested on ABS print before selling them on RS ? When I first heard that ormerod came with PC power I knew it will not working properly as a normal 3D printer. My Ormerod still on its way , but I need to buy proper power supply for my ABS printing. Why not Reprap pro stop using PC PSU as standard power supply and include an industrial type together with kit seby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Ray, Yes,I agree with you about advantage of PWM for switching the heated bed . I did suggest about PWM for heated bed in others thread too. Info. from this forum , the duet board design seems a little sensitive on noise immunity , on-off spike will interfere or freeze/ hang the boards operation. Sometimes designing PCB need to be very careful to place ground plane layout , digital grounby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, Please don't use that type of light transformer, its not precisely regulated because it designed for constant load, not better than normal ATX PSU. Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
Its grounded then. I need to wait until I receive the Ormerod from RS for further investigation on the duet board. 1 month waiting , sigh.........by tru168 - Ormerod
May I know the metal case of crystal for CPU grounded ?by tru168 - Ormerod
Victors, 30cm away from your Samsung S3 and still pickup EMI ?..... :-( Yes, you are right, I agree that none of PCB designed for production can ever be allowed to crash. Duet board seems still new, and i believe more stable version will be release real soon ( its open source after all , and gathering all infos from users very fast) Since you have good experience designing PCBs , shouby tru168 - Ormerod
hi dc42, that was just what I suspect , I need further test when I received mine . I answered to Victors in other thread about noise filtering and measuring.by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Victors, From infos from Ormerod users in this forum, the duet board seems to be very sensitive to interference / noise. I don't know how the board's ground plane design ( because 1 month passed and still waiting for my Ormerod to arrive.) if you have some ferrite rings , try to put it on power wires , heated bed wires etc to filter out RF noises from entering to the board. If you have oby tru168 - Ormerod
From info given above, what I think is network seems interfered by power supply, not proper grounding on pcb design, and noise from PC ( yes PC can be very noisy ) feed into PCB and interfere the Duet board's network circuit. Laptop computer powered by battery , and also better noise shielding than desktop . hence less noise.by tru168 - Ormerod
Quotedc42 I have the same problem with the MDF bed sagging substantially in both back corners. I am planning to remake it in 3mm alu plate in a trapezoidal shape, leaving out the front corners, but your design looks nicer and might be lighter. Hi DC42, I tried a lot of MDF material in my previous experiments and proof that MDF can't be use for my previous projects . It will out of shape veryby tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, I'm pretty sure that RRP will be more than happy to send you a replacement board, just that RRP support seems overwhelmed by emails and reply might a little slow .by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi, Thats a good idea, but then we need to have constant ambient light, especially you place your printer near window. As for artificial light, it blinks following your main power source at 50Hz or 60 Hz. I don't know if it interfere the operation of light sensor?by tru168 - Ormerod
Hi Markus, Strange that no other Ormerod users show off their prints in very fine layer yet. Maybe most of them still busy building or solving problems. Hope you can success real soon. Good luck ! Ewby tru168 - Ormerod
