I just went on there to print a new fan duct and saw this new one! hmmm, what is itby PaulHam - Ormerod
QuoteKimBrown Hi, oooooo please don't whack it, or pull it off.... I print on glass, and have done for months now. (The finish is like a mirror...Well almost)... After printing, I place glass and print in a bowl of cool water.... You can hear the print releasing..... Then it floats free. I tried pulling a print off the glass one time, and ruined a perfectly good print in the process, by pulling tby PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi guys, I thought i would give sky a call to see if any of their technical support team could assist me with their router. By their own admission the technical support team are 'not computer people' Great... after 40mins they said that they will transfer me to tier 2 support, while on hold i decided to check again and it seems to be working now!???? I havent got a clue, but im glad its backby PaulHam - Ormerod
That was actually pinging a wired computer on the network. Ormerod 192.168.0.180 Mac 192.168.0.30 Router 192.168.0.1by PaulHam - Ormerod
Thanks for the responses, Still no luck, Wireless isolation is unticked in the router setup. When i try to ping any wired device i get the following PING 192.168.0.31 (192.168.0.31): 56 data bytes Request timeout for icmp_seq 0 Request timeout for icmp_seq 1 Request timeout for icmp_seq 2 Request timeout for icmp_seq 3 Request timeout for icmp_seq 4 ping: sendto: No route to host Request timeouby PaulHam - Ormerod
I cant ping it from any wifi laptop. but i can connect and control it from the wired desktop pc and it all works fine.by PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi all. Has anyone had any problems using the web interface over wifi? Till recently i always had the Ormerod connected to the windows laptop directly through ethernet. but i have now moved to a macbook pro which doesnt have a ethernet port, i connected the Ormerod directly to a switch which then goes onto the router, i wrote the IP into the chrome browser on my mac and the interface popped up,by PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi all, Can anyone help diagnose this print issue, it unusal becasue it doesnt happen the whole time. The piece was printed with the inside of the half box facing outwards. There are - strings on the left middle third of the height but nowhere else (inside) - edges are flattened at the right bottom third (outside back) - ridges on the edge on the left side but the right is straight I hope tby PaulHam - Ormerod
Exciting times. I would like one.by PaulHam - Ormerod
I think my Ormerod deserves a new fan, its been working on the supplied fan since i got it in January. The bearings are all a bit wobbly now, and quite noisy. Is there a upgraded fan i can get at reasonable money inc postage?by PaulHam - Ormerod
I'm a little happier now. I think I have it working but its time for bed now so more work will be done tomorrow. David, I copied out some of the start code from your whistle gcode I found in the github. I mashed it into the start coffee in cura and managed to start a print successfully (after manually homing the z axis) All was working well till a small part of the print came unstuck! I'll geby PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi Guys, Ive been out of the loop of a little while and now it feels that im too far out of it to work out what im doing. I installed the dual hot end board from DC42 this week and i am having issues with sensing the correct height, im in talks with David to try and fix it and its been suggested that i print a different modified part which will lower the sensor board down. The problem is thatby PaulHam - Ormerod

Ive set my print speeds to be 75mm/s, i seem to get good quality prints, any faster and the extruder stepper cannot keep upby PaulHam - Ormerod
Quotedmould QuotePaulHam I have attached my speeds i use with Cura. I had previously set all to 100 but the extruder couldn't extrude fast enough and kept skipping. How do we get the extruder to throw out filament faster? I saw a video of the ultimaker printing at high speed and its bloody fast! The extruder sets the speed limit for me also (in my case at around 70mm/s for 0.2mm layers printingby PaulHam - Ormerod

I have the standard z probe and its been working ok for me recently, but today i have changed my z gears to iamburnys gears turned on the printer and the Z probe is indicating from 1015 - 1020 This means i cannot home the X axis. I have checked the plug on the probe circuit and it is pluged in, and i have checked the wire going into the top row of the duet and that is pluged in too. any ideas?by PaulHam - Ormerod
PVA + water, brushed onto the glass. Put bed up to temp and allow to dry. Reapply mixture a couple of times. PLA Will stick every time. You need to let it cool right down before trying to remove your print, I was rushing the other day and snapped the original glass in half. Now I use 6mm glass and actually pulled off a small slither of glass the other day.by PaulHam - Ormerod
This is a link to a picture of a cute octopus I printed in my ormerod in ABS normal layer height and i made a mistake and forgot to put the infill % in and it printed hollow. I see to have been lucky and have never needed to worry about the Y belt slipping. But I have now put on a aluminium bed which makes it a lot more solid.by PaulHam - Ormerod
I don't bother with the tape anymore, I water down PVA glue and brush it onto a hot bed. It lasts a long while and sticks down hard. Problem is that the part needs to be cold to get it off as it sticks down so well. I tried getting it off with a knife the other day when it finally popped off and I stabbed myself in the palm. I have 2 glass beds now so I can swap between 2by PaulHam - Ormerod
Exciting, ill have a go at this later on. Does the duet serve the files fast enough now? Thanks Paulby PaulHam - Ormerod
Hi Matt, I hope you are getting on okay. Just a FYI for when you get back into things. Last night I tried to upload a gcode (crow.g) onto the printer through the web interface but halfway through I got bored of waiting and changed my mind to what I wanted to print. So I clicked outside of the progress box to cancel the upload. I went into Cura and sliced another object (skull.g) then dragged itby PaulHam - Ormerod
Quoteauser QuotePaulHam Lower the z till you can feel it on the paper, then drop down 0.5mm 0.5mm? Seems a lot to me I would suggest 0.05mm. If you do 0.5 and your first layer is 0.24 then the printer will try to start at -0.26 sorry, typying on a ipad on a packed train. oops. yes 0.05mmby PaulHam - Ormerod
You have to zero z each time you turn on the printer, because it could have moved since the last power My normal procedure is to home all axis Setbed X100 Y100 Lower the z till you can feel it on the paper, then drop down 0.5mm Then I run G92 Z0.24 Not sure if its the correct way but I've been getting good prints and consistent results.by PaulHam - Ormerod
How would the weight compare to the acrylic parts? If the aluminium is heavier would the extra weight put more strain on the Z axis screw/nut?by PaulHam - Ormerod
Something is funky. As mine did exactly the same. I had to revert back to a older version of the plugin to fix it. Haven't updated to the newest version yet thoughby PaulHam - Ormerod
No nothing. I finished printing on Sunday and everything was fine. Got home from work on Monday and sliced a part. and realised it was going all funny on me. hmmby PaulHam - Ormerod
QuoteCash Hi Paul, I am sorry, but I think there is something wrong if M-Codes are included in the lines that contains also X Y and Z values. I thought I changed this already! Please try the attached version of the Plugin, I will commit the changes this evening to Github! Cheery, Frank Edit: Ok, I used a wrong version for the github repository, sorry again! Thanks ill give it a go later. Whyby PaulHam - Ormerod
The part im silcing is only small. so i know that its done working it out before i click save. I just deleted the plugin, put a old backup in there. sliced it and it worked fine. when i put the new plugin back in it all goes wrong. it was fine yesterday!!by PaulHam - Ormerod
