Hey nice prints cristian! I will have to try that trick that you did with the first layer, wouldn't a first layer raft work better then? I mean fist print a raft at high temp and high speed, and then the object. This way the object should then print OK (without a squeesed first layer) The picture resolution doesn't really show it but the layer bonding seems very good too. I use a 80 mm fan like that on the Smartrap and there is always a way to make a fancy fan duct. If you need to.. Or do something with bernoulli in mind.by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
//#define AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID So you try the 3 point mode? If not then uncomment this line to #define AUTO_BED_LEVELING_GRID then it should probe a 9 point grid. I also had issues with 3point probing, but the Grid works fine.by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Very nice build Touche! Home is at X0 Y0 Z0 so i think it is all good.by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
But how does that make you a 'shaper knife' then?by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Ok, 9 thats quiet a lot, are you also building a smartrap? BTW. What makes you a 'sharper knife' then Prusa? Why this hostile approach toward him aswell? Mr. Prusa managed to get many people printing on this planet.by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
The quality of the Genie hotent is very good, That your hotend is lower priced does that make it any better? I guess not.. But that's not for me to decide. It doesn't really matter what hot end is the best the market is big enough and people can make their own choices. Reg is not competing with anyone he just makes excellent hotends for a fair price. There is just no need to start a war aboutby BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Reg is way to good for this world. You are going to be the owner of a wonderful hot-end! (may i say top-class?)by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
If the admins would be so nice to try and explain to Kyle that it is about CHOICE and not about competition, then he might see that being friendly eventually could bring him more customers then the number of customers he is loosing by his offensive/aggressive approach. When I came across his product also thought HEY nice price! And if it wouldn't have been an ebay store I might have given it a tby BackEMF - Smart_Rap

Hey Verteez, My first guess is: is there perhaps more 'play' or 'friction' in the smartrap that is growing over time? And now grown enough to produce misreadings/ misbehave just enough to start messing with your mind? Just a wild guess, I can't see you machine from here . :-) I'll give it some more thought and if i can thing of another reason then i'll share my thoughts again.by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Nice one Fabrice! Verteez: I think there are several things involved. The type of glue. The properties of the filament. Some PLA has more crimp then other The room temperature (the colder the room the more the crimp) The temperature of the plastic when it leaves the hot end, If you print to hot then there is also more crimp. I have fillament that has a rated temperature of 195-200C If i prby BackEMF - Smart_Rap
hehehe In the next build i guess? :-Dby BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Just wondering: Are the internal pullup's configured in configuration.h? If there is no pull up then you have a floating signal signal on the contact that could eventually cause misreadings.Coarse End Stop Pull Up Resistor – line 194 look for: #define ENDSTOPPULLUPS #ifndef ENDSTOPPULLUPSby BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Ooo thats a nice wide buildspace! Looking forward to see it print!by BackEMF - Smart_Rap
Very nice remix Verteez! Congrats. What about adding something like this? https://sites.google.com/site/3dprinterlist/home/mechanics/simple-anti-backlash-system Not that backlash is a problem, but i like the simplicity of that antibacklash system heheheby BackEMF - Smart_Rap
what about turning the x axis upside down? with the motor on top...by BackEMF - Smart_Rap

Thanks! Nice article BTW. Does this THF also make the PLA flexible or does it become hard and brittle again after the treatment?by BackEMF - General
And another 2 weeks later: Vinegar definetly softens the PLA, but after a month it's only a little soft (just not brittle anymore) but i still won't call it flexible. And it's not worth waiting a month for. :-) In the bookstore I looked into a few books on Polylacticacid and came across something called THD. That was mentioned as an organic solvent. Back at home i asked Google about THD but bby BackEMF - General
Where did you use that? I'd like to take a look at it. How much dutycycle can you still have at 200kHz? Atmels datasheet is causing a lot of confusion when it comes to Timer1. Nickgammon has a nice tutorial series about timers and it helped me a lot, but still it's hard to get my head around how to actually make a PWM with more control over the actual pulse width and frequency. It looks like yourby BackEMF - Controllers
Thanks, Hmm i see the 644 has more timers on board. BTW. In my experiments i did this: void setup() { pinMode(9, OUTPUT); //OC1A pinMode(10, OUTPUT); //OC1B } void loop() { TCCR1A = bit (COM1A0) | bit (COM1B0); // | bit (WGM10) | bit (WGM11); OCR1A = 50000; //count to 50001, relative to ZERO! TCCR1B = bit (CS12) | bit (WGM12);// | bit (WGM13); OCR1A = 50000; //countby BackEMF - Controllers
True. This stuff is just not right. ...If I understand it correct. And maybe it's because i find it a shame that there is no nice RepRap friendly license. At this point i'm leaning toward finding the most restrictive license and jut think about myself although thats just what i tried to avoid. This license stuff really needs to evolve. I'll keep the Source CLOSED until there is a licenseby BackEMF - General
So the law forces us to be slaves of our own work simply because the fact that there is no (seems to be no) license that respects the creator of the work? Since this is how it feels to me. The licences seem to be constructed from the production point of view, twisted with wordings as if it is written from the creators point of view. Misleading the creators and playing in the hand of the commerciby BackEMF - General
Hi Cefiar, Thing is that it doen't seem electrically correct that current is flowing from USB to the ATX standby. It's just a minor detail, i can add a Diode in the path. I just din't expect that voltage coming in from there, its not a UBS spec issue. But ok VCC is VCC so it looks like this is by design.by BackEMF - RAMPS Electronics
I'm looking for someone who can write a clever PWM control based on Atmel Timer1 (Arduino Uno / Nano) My coding skills are as good as non existing when it comes to this. I Have had a look at this several times but never got the code to do what i had in mind. What I like to accomplish is to have a way to have 2 controls One for the Frequency and one for the Pulse Width and if in any way possiblby BackEMF - Controllers
I'm playing with RAMPS and ATX and i notice a small cosmetic oddity The situation is as follows: D1 is removed from ramps. I have a led to indicate the Standby state. But when connected as described in the RAMPS wiki. Then there is voltage coming trough USB toward the Standby LED that makes the Led come ON even when the ATX PSU is NOT connected to the mains. I know I could use a diode, but thaby BackEMF - RAMPS Electronics
Yes, thanks for pointing that out, and thats why I it looks like there in'st actually a good license available for what I have in mind. I know i have to get my head around all the details, i see i still have a few things confused. Somethings that go though my mind are like: Public domain 'license' would actually allow the copycats to be legal. But that also grands the greedy bunch to grab wiby BackEMF - General
It looks like things have changed even more. TAPR depricated its NC license. So now there isn't even a license left that actually covers Non Commercial use? With all the things i have been reading the whole License stuff doesn't get any clearer to me. I admid i'm not good with all the legal talk and i hate the bureaucratic stuff. At this poit it looks like the Licenses are only there to protecby BackEMF - General
