It is really weird that this overheating suddenly became a problem, especially since I haven't changed anything.. I even made the Y-carriage lighter. I noticed some other properties of the machine have also changed, the hotend is now outputting more material, at least it looks like that. Printing 3.05mm ABS with a 0.4mm nozzle, on a 0.32mm layer height. First layer is also 0.32mm so it squashesby Ohmarinus - Printing
My guess would be a firmware OR repetier temperature setting that is off. Did you check if you use the same thermistor in the new hotend? I doubt it, you should change that in your firmware settings.by Ohmarinus - General
The reason why I mention the paint is because I think when a vendor doesn't pay attention to this kind of detail, there are probably more things that are not taken care of into detail. I say this because I have had the same experience with another vendor who sold me a machine with warped parts, not-straight rods, broken electronics, and worst of all, when sending it to me, he put all the items jby Ohmarinus - General

That black paintjob looks lousy. I really want to discourge anyone buying this kit. It may be well put-together but that lousy paintjob ruins it. I wonder if the sides are nice and smoothly covered.by Ohmarinus - General

Okay, I think I have solved the problem for now. The stepper was apparently overheating when in IDLE. I had no idea that could happen, I am suspecting convection heating from the surrounding stepper drivers might have helped causing the problem. I have one small 40mm fan now hanging in front of the stepper drivers, it's not connected to any special hinge, it's just hanging at the approximate poby Ohmarinus - Printing

What even works better in my opinion is window cleaning spray (In Holland we have 'Ajax', 'Glassex' and home-brands and are all blue colored). What this does is first of all, it removes any kind of grease on the surface you're applying the kapton to, and secondly, it has better surface tension than the water/soap method and stick much easier and you don't accidentally move it when removing the fby Ohmarinus - General
However, there is a setting in Marlin firmware where you can set PID for the Heatbed, it's not recommended. If you need a wiring diagram for the relay, let me know I have the wiring diagram for Sanguino, but I guess it will also work on RAMPS. Spyrakos Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A relay is a solution because i see that arduino > doesnt use pwm foby Ohmarinus - General
I have my current heatbed wired through a relay, this causes it to drain power directly from the PSU instead of the mosfet. That might be a solution for you? Curious how fast the kit will be here, I live in the Netherlands.by Ohmarinus - General
Hi Spyrakos, thanks for your reply, I have read about the hotend that it is a very good one. I am only printing ABS for the time being, maybe I'll switch to PLA some day, but for now I am mostly into ABS since I just want to learn all about this subject before switching over to another material. I have read a lot of good things about the hotend and am having some issues with my current hotend..by Ohmarinus - General
Okay, I will buy the kit from Ebay, since it has more content and is a little bit cheaper. Thanks for your reply, I guess it's just true what they say about these items Still, I'd like to hear anything about the kit if someone has to add, I will order within an hour or so. - Marinus badmanjoe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hello Ohmarinus, > > FABby Ohmarinus - General
Hi guys, I am having lots of trouble with my current setup and I am secretly thinking of wanting to build the machine up again with completely new electronics. This is the set I have my eye on: Can anyone tell me if this is a solid choice? I have also found their website where they sell a similar kit, it's here: Except that kit doesn't have the Budda hot-end, and no T2 belts and pulleys. Doby Ohmarinus - General
Well, I don't know, I would like an admin to reply on this I understand what you mean, but I disagree, since I see the Air is getting it's own variations nowby Ohmarinus - General Mendel Topics
Hey, like I said, there is nothing I can find mechanically, so it must be electrical/firmware/sanguinololu problem. I have been printing for two months now and the past three/four weeks it's been constantly going wrong. I have lubricated the rods nicely and I can even put a LOT of pressure on the carriage and the stepper motors will still pull it up so it's definately nothing mechanical.
Yes, ofcourse I have switched out the stepper drivers, checked the connectors, everything, I have wiggled the connector while giving the motors a 'move 100mm up' command to see if it would lose connection sometimes... Clueless! Ok, it went 'ok' for a moment, but now after some 30 minutes of printing, suddenly it started doing the same again. WHAAAAAT!? I punched the machine... I have been looking at my Z-couplings. They do not slip, but it looks as if sometimes, they don't make a full turn, they just move a small bit. Sometimes it even moves back a small part after moving a bit in the right direction. I have already improved the stepper drivers power, so this cannot be it. Is there another way my Z-axis doesn't make the full turn it needs to make to get correct layerby Ohmarinus - Printing
I am very interested in the Delta printer of this type. In fact, if I had known about this little printer before, I would've probably ordered this one instead of the Reprap Air that only cost and cost and cost me more than you can imagine and still gives me shit problemsby Ohmarinus - General
Hi guys, would it be a nice idea to create a separate Reprap Air section? I notice a lot of people around me encounter the same problems in calibration and machine stability, so I would like to suggest hereby to create a new section for the Reprap Air machines. This will enhance the information collection about this certain line of machines. - Marinusby Ohmarinus - General Mendel Topics
Since I have re-calibrated my extrusion rate in the firmware, set the correct filament width (it was a bit wider than 3mm) and have re- and re- and re-calibrated my X, Y and Z and E over and over again I now finally have correct hole sizes. It's kind if a drag to try different settings, but in the end for me all I needed was to calibrate and calibrate some moreby Ohmarinus - General
