Dave, Would it be possible to incorporate a procedure that will allow the updating of the interface without having to remove the SD card. I seem to be removing the SD card quite a lot these days, although the instance is getting less. It would just be a good thing if removal could be eliminated to stop wear and possible problems with the SD card in the future. Thank you Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Just thought you would like to know, My print has just finished using your e firmware. The print completed with no problems, just for completeness here are the final figures:- 99% Completed, Layer 63 of 63, filament 6774 of 6779, Filament estimated time left 05s. I think an error in filament of %0.05 and an error in time of %0.07 is very acceptable, after all the whole idea of these figures wasby appjaws1 - Ormerod
The new firmware seems to be working fine. Initially the height defaulted to 5mm but as soon as the print started the correct height of 15.12mm was displayed. It should be 15mm but I'll double check that in the morning. Very happy, thank you.by appjaws1 - Ormerod
Yes - now downloaded but I can't try it until my current print has finished, about another 50 mins. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Hi Matt, What sort of times are you waiting for the file to load and start printing? All of my printing is now done via the upload and print. It only takes 1-3 mins. I must admit though I would have already had the bed heated as part of my setbed routine, and the hot end would be up to temperature at the end of setbed, so the print starts as soon as it is loaded. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Dave, As requested, I cleared out the height box so it just said mm in grey, started the same print again and after a time the information strip had 1% Completed, Layers 1 of 63 Filament 125 of 8100. The height box stayed the same at mm greyed out. Again having to stop a print when the pause and reset are not working entailed turning off the power to the Ormerod. The pause worked prior to thisby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, Sorry new problem. using 058d firmware and 072 interface. I have just had to pause a print but it didn't pause. The reset button did not work either. I had to power off and on so that I could lift the hot end. This was doing a print from the upload and print button. In addition to the height not being calculated correctly I've just noticed that the layer count is also way off, theyby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, How very strange when it reports 5.00 mm on my setup. I am in the process of a different print, but again with 2 items on the platter and the height being reported is 52.80 when in fact it should be around 34mm for the tallest part. Please take your time, it's only a minor issue. I know how busy you are, I don't know where you find the time to do all that you do for us ormerodiums. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, I did a print this morning with the firmware 058d-dc42 and the height was still reported as 5.00mm Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, Just realised your second post says about the height calculation and the direct print. The problem I had was with the upload and print not calculating the height correctly, not the direct print. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, Latest firmware 058d-dc42 is running but as soon as I switch the Ormerod on the hot end fan starts. It used to be off until the hot end heater was working. Also did you manage to resolve the issue that occurs when you pause a print and then press the reset button on the interface, ready for the next job, the bed fan stays on, it should be turned off on a reset. That is if I am using theby appjaws1 - Ormerod
No objections, I don't use it anyway. The upload and print works well, I can't see the point of having another print option. I'll print the same job again in the morning and let you know if the reported figures are now correct. Thanks again for a great job.by appjaws1 - Ormerod
Here is the whole file - zipped. I do not have drop box account, maybe I should look into that.by appjaws1 - Ormerod
Hi David, Just another minor issue. I am currently printing my first print of the day, which consists of 2 separate parts ( although they are one item on the slic3r platter ) and the message line is reporting:- 68% Completed, Layer 44 of 21, Filament 4770.588 of 6889.0mm Also the object height is reported as 5.0mm when it should be 15.00mm. I attach the start and end of the gcode file. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Where did you get the brass pulley from? A great ideaby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Hi, update the following to the latest versions:- slic3r, firmware and interface, you should see a big difference.by appjaws1 - Ormerod
Hi David, The new updates are working very well - thank you. One minor problem, I am now using a separate bed fan and when I paused a print and reset, the bed fan stayed on. It's not really a problem because when the next print loaded the fan switched off for the start of the print. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
It seems to me that all of the suggestions have downsides and trying to get any of them stable enough for consistent Z height and bed levelling is proving very difficult. I wish I had more expertise and could contribute more because to me, the rotating micro switch would be the answer to providing consistent results.by appjaws1 - Ormerod
Forget previous post, found it and tested. Thanksby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Matt, I've printed your bed fan holder and have a 3 pin fan. Which are the connections on the duet board that I should use? Do I need to just connect red and black or is the yellow sensing wire used as well. I have a feeling that this has been documented somewhere but I can't find it. Can you help please. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, By mistake I downloaded your revised - not yet released interface 0.72. I am happy to report that after 3 successful prints, with correct filament reporting and no freezes, you have cracked it. I have tested from the SD card and a direct Upload & Print. Thank you for sorting out the width of the Head position boxes as well. Don't you ever sleep????? A very happy Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Well rebooted, no response from the interface just an Oops. Re-flashed Ormerod and started another print - no filament details reported. Print finished interface frozen. reverting to firmware RepRapFirmware-058-dc42.binby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, The first print finished and the message line says 100% Complete, Layer 56 of 56, Filament 2244.01 of 2246.6mm However, the interface is frozen, the Connect button is saying retrying and the top right is saying Disconnected. I have just connected Pronterface and run M111 S1 command, this is the result:- Connecting... Printer is now online. >>>M111 S1 SENDING:M111 S1 Debugging enaby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, I don't think that is the problem. Today I have just started a new print, sliced with slic3r-1.1.1 and the interface is reporting the height and filament correctly. The problem comes when I do a second print, it is then that the height is correctly identified but all of the filament entries are zero, also the % completed message line has the filament details missing. Sorry I thought youby appjaws1 - Ormerod
David, Yes I have just checked the code and G1 Z5 F200 is listed but the line is commented out. I see the problem now because you have to search the comment out lines looking for filament and the height of Z. Is it possible to have the searches separated? Thanks for looking at this, Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
great to have you back, This looks good, how much difference does it make to your prints? How did you connect it? Is it controlled by the firmware? Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Dave, Sorry, I have tried 3 times and rr_fileinfo?name= is not in the Pronterface log. I rebooted everything earlier and the fist print did show the filament details but the next print did not. Attached is the beginning and ending of the g file and the Pronterface log Hope that helps Give me a shout if I can do anything else. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
yes I used slic3r 1.1.1-experimental and yes it has the filament quoted but not at the end of the file, it is at the start of the comments at the end of the file. The thin wall I printed just prior to this was also with slic3r 1.1.1, with the filament usage at the start of the comments. But that was picked up by the interface and reported correctly. I think this is a problem created by pausinby appjaws1 - Ormerod
Hi Tracy, yes it is the duet enclosure. I thought you said in a previous thread that you were going to modify the existing one to be deeper etc. Perhaps I re-remembered. If you haven't done it yet perhaps I'll have a go at designing one from scratch.by appjaws1 - Ormerod
David I am on my second print and no filament usage is showing. The progress just says 25% Complete, Layer 11 of 40 The object height is correct at 10.00mm The estimated times are working except for the filament usage section This is what I did. I paused the previous print, then reset, then uploaded the new print and once loaded the printer started. Paulby appjaws1 - Ormerod
