I decided to sell my expensive parts because I need the money to pay for classes. I still have my ole j-head and printrboard, so I won't be completely out of commission. "I am selling a Genuine Budaschnozzle 1.1 Hotend Assembly which takes 3mm plastic filament with a 0.5mm nozzle and an UltiMachine Assembled RAMPS 1.4 electronics with 4 stepper drivers(can be upgraded to 5 for 2 extruders) whiby Zimtower - For Sale
Yes, I have this issue after my laptop hibernates. A full restart helps every time.by Zimtower - General
I assume that when vitamins are being sold in the shop, it's safe to start building TK-0?by Zimtower - General
I always clean my nozzle out, ABS or PLA, by first making sure most of the plastic is removed from the inside and then dipping a coffee filter in acetone and scrubbing it out. Acetone does soften PLA up to a point but you have to be aggressive.by Zimtower - General
Have you actually tried spinning the bearing while between the washers?by Zimtower - Reprappers
I believe our opensource software and hardware is enough to make RepRap development and innovation self-propelled. We are at a point of no return and reprap can sustain itself even during a crash. Reprap will never die.by Zimtower - General

Water at 100f wont melt it, however Chlorine will destroy it in a matter of weeks.by Zimtower - General
I can confirm that this method also works with PLA. Pure acetone is strong enough to soften PLA so it can be picked up by the coffee filter, you just have to do twice the work, no lemon juice needed unless you went the blowtorch route.by Zimtower - General
If you have electrical problems in your home, it's a good idea to invest in a UPS.by Zimtower - Reprappers
I just discovered a cheap and extremely effective way to clean burned ABS out of the inside of your brass nozzle while leaving zero residue. First off you should have soaked your nozzle in acetone overnight especially if it's caked. The outsides of your nozzle can easily be cleaned up. However, inside remains a bunch of residue consisting of burned and new ABS that seems almost impossible to cleaby Zimtower - General
I had the same problem along with the guy who made thisby Zimtower - Reprappers
I had the same issue, solved it by printing a new carriage with fan mounts and added fans and precisely calibrating my e-steps/mm. You never want to allow your hotend to drag on plastic as it may burn and clog your nozzle.by Zimtower - General
If you have a fan to cool down your part, your z-axis is calibrated and the hotend is secured to the carriage. The only problem I can think of is that your extruder is not calibrated enough and too much plastic is being extruded which your hotend is catching on.by Zimtower - General
You should only sell kits with an engineering mindset and a passion for quality, not $. Once you are confident with your own parts, you can start coming up with a business model.by Zimtower - General
There is only two reasons and it is to prevent your bed from being seriously damaged if your hotend accidently crashes into it and to allow easy leveling of your surface. I've had my hotend crash into my glass print bed plenty of times and the springs have saved me every time. Yea, there is the issue of weight causing the springs to compress but that will not happen if you screw them down far enoby Zimtower - General
Ok, a major issue. Every time I tried the honeycomb support structure, the supports popped off the bed about 20 layers in. I tried this about 3 times and it happened every time. When I switched to rectlinear, the problem disappeared and now I have a successful print. Another thing that I want in the next version is the option to have crosshatch. Update: Slic3r is doing a lot of weird things thatby Zimtower - General
The thermistor takes a several heat cycles to settle down to get a consistent temperature. Happened on my print bed too.by Zimtower - General
Alright, I encountered a print issue and wasted nearly a meter of plastic. One of the support structures just decided to come right off the print bed and ruined the rest of the print, I assume because I turned on cooling too early. This time I increased the angle tolerance and added a "brim" to help the structures stay in place. Think this will work?by Zimtower - Reprappers
My ABS prints were curling like crazy and I didn't want to go around town looking for a small case fan so I decided to go to the automotive section and found a $9 air pump and $3 of 1/2 tubing. I wired the pump plug to my 3.3V+sense wires and ziptied the vinyl tubing to my extruder carriage. So far so good, my prints are no longer curling and if there is any curling, it's not enough to ruin the pby Zimtower - Reprappers
When printing at .35, I only use natural ABS to be sure that my nozzle will never clog.by Zimtower - General
I just installed these very straight threaded rods and there is a tiny amount of improvement. I am also using the spiral couplers which I hear can be self-defeating. I am guessing I should print these out?by Zimtower - General
PLA is a HEADACHE to clean up. If you are printing parts, at least print the entire x-carriage in ABS.by Zimtower - General
I am using a Printrboard and it NEVER overheats. The only time it "skips" is when there is a power issue, the printrboard is EXTREMELY sensitive to power failure. The only way I could get my printrboard to stop acting funny was to feed it pure power from a UPS battery backup. Also, what is the holding torque on your motors.by Zimtower - General
The support material are no longer crosshatch which I am unsure about, but this looks promising.by Zimtower - General
My z-axis threaded rods were slightly bent. I got some silver coated rods in the mail, gonna install tommorow and see what I have.by Zimtower - General
Alright, I got the PLA out and fed it some natural ABS. Smooth flowing now. Now I gotta arrange to get some real ABS.by Zimtower - Reprappers
