This is all good news - I'm looking forward to the upgrade. Apparently the old hot-end heard it was going to be swapped out and started behaving. For the heck of it I cranked the heat up for ABS temperature (I've been using PLA) and a ton of material came pouring out. After getting back to the right temp, I was able to print some upgrade parts in preparation for the E3D.by markts - Prusa i3 and variants

Quoteseabass07 Possibly a dumb question, but where exactly do we adjust the vref for the motors? I seem to be missing something very obvious. Not obvious or a dumb question. The screw head on the voltage regulator is "hot". Check tom's video (specifically at 5:08):by markts - Prusa i3 and variants

I'm so embarrassed. I've been printing up a storm with parts for my quadcopter, replacement parts for the printer, trinkets, etc. The prints have been getting better as I've tweaked things. Quotefewyn I'm having some problems with my Y axis, the print jumps back a bit (here's a video ) it makes a thudding/clicking noise. QuoteUncertainty Quotesethmo I am getting some odd lines in my print and it seems as though my extruder is not smooth(stock extruder/hot end). In my other printers, my extruder turns at a smooth consistent pace when doing infill or long perimeters. With my Folger Tech, it looks jerky. What should the voltage be on the stepper driver pots? I tried adjusting them, but it did not seem to help.by markts - Prusa i3 and variants
I had a chance to spend some time dialing in the 2020 over the holiday. By running some of the calibration routines, things are looking much better. I was able to print a fan shroud but now I think I need to source some new screws. In the picture it shows screws in the top of the fan. When I took mine apart to see what I needed, the fan was screwed in on the bottom. No big deal of courseby markts - Prusa i3 and variants
0.1A definitely should not have melted the wires. There must have been something else going on, either on the printer side or a bad fan. Ah, it's a three pin connector with rpm sensor. I'm not at my printer now but I'm guessing the pinout is not the same at the connector.by markts - Prusa i3 and variants
Quotetjnamtiw You evidently weren't getting a good connection to ground? Don't try to put the ground lead on the stepstick. Put it on the negative terminal on the power supply and then you only have to worry about a good contact with the pot. Yeah I know that must be the case, though I was using the ground from the power supply. I'll give it another go tomorrow.by markts - Prusa i3 and variants
Mine still looks a lot like that! lol. Nothing obviously wrong that I can see, except isn't one of those connections to the RAMPs board supposed to be inverted? I don't recall all of the connectors going in the same direction (despite what the instructions say). I'll go look at mine. I think it depends on the config in the firmware too - nothing to worry about yet. I have a question about tby markts - Prusa i3 and variants

Here are some calibration cubes I've printed. The first was actually underextruded - I was getting 90mm instead of 100. The second is with the extruder calibrated. The third is with Slic3r (the first two were Cura). And the fourth is actually a hollow 20mm cube I accidentally printed, which printed *very* slowly. I'll get your firmware loaded up tomorrow, for sure.. Does Simplify3d come with a pre-configured setting for the Folger? At least maybe with stock parts? I question if half of my issues aren't just settings that are way off that I don't know to change (speed, etc). It seems like the calibration cubes are pretty consistent but once I try to print something bigger, the settings change (in tby markts - Prusa i3 and variants
That looks cool! So I went to print the adjustable Y axis tensioner. After seeing the calibration cube and calibrating the extruder, I thought I was good to go, at least good enough to print replacement parts and hopefully progressively get the parts better. No luck.
