thanks for the warning Srek. I used Artic 5 silver thermal grease good up to 180 deg. I only put it on the cooling part, which is recommended by the manufacturers of the Volcano head. I am guessing it wont get nearly this hot as they say to use standard thermal grease.by psi3000 - Printing
I have never had this problem in over a year of printing. I have even used the Volcano for about 6 months with no issues like this. I dont know what changed. I even tried a new thermister with the same result. Ill try the thermal paste tonight on the top part like i have seen in some other suggestions. thanks for all the help!by psi3000 - Printing
so do i have it plugged into the wrong one? you said its just a 12v i have it plugged into but shouldnt that be good on a 12v fan? Or do i need to reconfigure D9 like you say?by psi3000 - Printing
I was doing some more searching and found this quote in the E3D-V6 (volcano head) troubleshooting guide. "Connecting the hotend fan to the “Fan” output on an electronics board, which is software controlled and should be used for print cooling, not for a hotend fan" And in the below diagram I have the fan hooked up to the pins labeled "extruder fan". Should it be hooked up to the one labeled "prinby psi3000 - Printing
Humberto, I dont think this is the issue because if i pull the filament up a little bit and try to push it back down immediately, with my fingers , it jams. o_lampe, "how much do i liftt the Z axis in my retraction settings?" is that the "z hop" if so its defaulted to 0.0. the length of the retraction was set to 4mm with 30mm/s speed. I have tried 2mm and 0.5mm and also taking the speed down tby psi3000 - Printing
Im sorry I keep saying Z Jerk, its the RETRACTION under the ADVANCE menu in Cura. the mm/s and the distance. Sorry, im not sure if thats Z Jerk or not. Still a noob to this after 2 years.by psi3000 - Printing
I did try to reduce the z jerk retraction length from 4mm to 2mm, 1mm and 0.5 with the same result. I tried slowing down the speed of the z jerk to 15 m/s when it was at 30m/s. those two things did not do a thing. What is G0 moves?by psi3000 - Printing
It seems like all the sudden whenever my printer makes a Z Jerk move to prevent the filament from leaking out when moving to another position and not extruding, that when it trys to extrude again after making the zjerk move it cant push it back down. I pause the print and try to push it down and sometimes i cant even do it and have to take apart the whole extruder. If i put 0 for the Zjerk allby psi3000 - Printing
I have a prusa i3 with the ramps 1.4. I powered it up last week and saw a spark by the extruder heater wires, maybe they touched. The z dvr8825 driver burnt up when this happened. I ordered more and replaced it. Every time the z axis went up a step it would make a weird straining noise on the Y axis and the Y axis would be way off. While troubleshooting this I powered it back up and the Z drby psi3000 - RAMPS Electronics
I have a Prusa i3 with a J head .4 mm tip 3mm filament . I have been printing happily for months. Until last night when the metal part of the hotend was pushed out of the threaded part. I cleaned it out and threaded it back on. This happened three times today. I double checked to make sure the calibration wasn't off on the extruder motor and all of the axis, they were all fine. I just got 5 of these to replace my a4988 drivers in my audrino, ramps 1.4 using marlin. I replaced the z axis only and what i noticed is that all the a4988 drivers work untill you try to move the z axis with the drv8825 then nothing works even the z axis. I then added the 4.7k resistor on the sleep and fault pin, still the same result. Then I pulled the three jumpers under the z axis, still tby psi3000 - For Sale

I got a Prusa i3XL from DIY Tech Shop. I am finally able to get it to at least print after replacing a faulty hot end. When it does print the first 20 to 35 layers on the outter edge of the object get printed twice without the head moving up in the z direction. And its only the outter 2 to 3 layers of the object and only for the first 20 to 35 layers, After that it prints like a dream. Needleby psi3000 - Printing

I had the same issue. Is the J hotend a dirrect replacement or will I have to print out another hotend holder?by psi3000 - General
I have a Ramps 1.4 and one of the motors on the Z axis only turns a little when compaired to the other. And neither one of the movements on either motor is smooth. I switch the wires from one motor to the other, and their place on the ramps board and also switched to a known working driver. I also tried moving the little pyrometer on the driver clockwise and counterclockwise, Still the same reby psi3000 - RAMPS Electronics
