I have to agree RoTorIT, I am an admin and I still go to great pains to make sure no one ever things what I say/do is "Official". That's part of the reason why people change the names of the machines they build/run as projects. Prusa Mendel was named as such because Prusajr did the project. How fair would it have been for some college student from the Czech Republic to call his the Offical Repby spacexula - Developers
Agree with Dean. So What is the standard? Cheapest Possible RepRap? (Wallace/Printrbot DIY electronics and used motors and Wades) Most Common RepRap? (Prusa, Ramps, Wades) Best looking RepRap? (Mendelmax, Ramps, Brustruder) Best known 3d Printer (Makerbot?) Most Capitalized RepRap (Botmill?) Fastest 3d Printer? I got enough nasty emails and conversations questioning my character that I am really not intersted in continuing the update of the front page any further. If someone else wants to take up the project have at it. I am done.by spacexula - General
All RepRap are commerical. SOMEONE is selling it. All the ones on the front page curerntly have documentaion. Who get's to determine good enough documentation?by spacexula - General
I understand the concerns, but it's all a slippery slope. Maxbot sells Mendelmax kit so it is commercial? I sell Prusa rp parts, so is it commercial? Botmill still sells Sells Mendel, so is it commercial? Why should we force people to document in the reprap wiki when it's a pain in the ass? As long as they have documentation of some kind why be picky? Any reprap front page that does not haby spacexula - General
Agree, your more than welcome to edit the hell out of my test page with your ideas and I will push them to the main page.by spacexula - General
And that "full step" and "75% documentation" lines are going to be pissers. Prusa is just a upgraded sells! Mendelmax uses Prusa X axis with no change! RepRap Pro Huxley is just a down sized Prusa! I don't want to have these converstations.by spacexula - General
James good question, I am responsible for the change. We are trying to find a balance for the front page. Right now the "idea" is. -If the project has replicated several times outside of the original project -Project must be under a free like beer licence, no non commercial crap -Project must be RP Part focused There are about 10 Wallace in the wild (Hunderds if you count the Printrbots, whby spacexula - General

Adam/3DSBotmill there is a lot of ill will toward Botmill because of some truly underhanded business practices practiced by for the 1st year. Some of it was sending very low quality RP Parts, some of it was selling "Assembled" printers that where no where near done/functional, some of it was strange posts that came from Botmill's IP address. Iccon, just be ware your not going to get rich, or even break even if you pay yourself any type of real wage. Prusa takes 15 hours Mendelmax takes 20 hous Sells Mendel takes nearly 50 hours Darwin took nearly 100 hours Even at 15 hours, the parts go for $60-$110, so 2 way less than $5 + you have to pay the $10-15 worth of plastic, all replacment parts for your machine, and eat all miisprints.by spacexula - General
Fablocker Hackerspace in Winston-Salem gives the public access to their 3d printers Monday and Thursday. (this one is my hackerspace) Charolotte Hackerspace in Charolotte has regularly scheduled build classes for RepRaps. Spatspace Hackerspace in Durham has many members that own 3d printers, but don't know if they have classes for it. If you offer easy access to your repraps please post hereby spacexula - North Carolina RepRap User Group
Hey Steve I am the founder of the hackerspace in Winston-Salem, your welcome to come by and print what ever you need on Monday or Thursday. Also the Charlotte and Durham hackerspaces have 3d printers.by spacexula - North Carolina RepRap User Group
This page is for the review of MakerGear Products. I stared out in RepRap over 2 years ago with a Makerbot Cupcake, Makergear parts where what allowed me to get that box working after many months I have owned over 8 Makergear hot ends over the last 28 months, never had one fail outside of my own stupidity (What do you mean a hot end will not survive 400C?) I have also owned a Makergear Prusa Mby spacexula - General
There are many other venders that don't have this issue or at least are straight up with their customers. Makerbot is straight up about their delay Makergear is straight up about their delays Bit's From Bytes was straight up about their delays. I am sorry, If you take $1000 from a person you owe them transparency and honesty If Camiel can’t deliver he has a very complicated and advanced toolby spacexula - General
dob71 your going to print a Sells mendel instead of a Prusa? Wow, ok, strange choice. Also $825 get's you a heated build plate stainless rods and fasteners, a metal geared extruder, good Power Supply, and all the proper wiring... Do as you want, but Printing a Sells Mendel is just daft.by spacexula - Reprappers
Please for the love of God do not buy the Techzone kit. I do teck in the IRC every day and the Techzone bot is trash. Please before you make a purchase go into the RepRap IRC and consult with actual users/developers. Gen3 are 3 year old electronics in a community that get's new electronics every 3-4 months at this point. A reprap can be put together from between $400 for a very basic Prusby spacexula - Reprappers
I was one of the more active loaners, yep it's basically dead. 1. Yep $50 for cast parts $75-$125 for printed, and the Prusa killed the need for a loaner program.. When the plastic costs less than the electronics, the plastic does not need a loaner program 2. Ding Ding. I had someone sell the plastic parts I sold them because they could get $200+ for the parts I gave away. 3. Ohh no, peopleby spacexula - General
Why is popcorn so much more expensive than raw corn by the ton? Why is peanut butter so much more expensive than raw peanuts? etc etc etc In the end plastic is a waste byproduct of the oil we use for fuel, until the 50s we where throwing the stuff out. It's cheap because it's manufacture is subsidized by the fuel in your favorite mode of transport. The Pellets are common to injection moldingby spacexula - General

The Mosaic is all the right compromises. Linear rail X/Y, multistart acme on Z, Geared stepper extruder, hybrid hot end, .35-.25 nozzle. Not bad for $999by spacexula - General
I know they USED to be Makerbot's supplier, the new plastic might be coming from another sourceby spacexula - General
Let me guess michaelc, you don't have experence in manufacturing or assembling a Mendel. Am i right? Prusa mendel takes 17 hours to print, and you have put 2-3 machine together you can go from components to fuctioning printer in about 6 hours. Components of a Prusa cost $400-$500 if you make it really easy on yourself, or $300-$400 if you do all the soldering yourself. For a commerical supplby spacexula - General

$80 for a heated build plate you could build yourself with a sheet of aluminum and some $1 reistors is not the greatest deal in the worldby spacexula - Reprappers
Personally I think your a fool if you spend $1400 on a preassembled RepRap. You can self source one for 1/3 the price, and get a really nice kit for 1/2 the price. Also if it's preasembled who is going to fix it WHEN, not if it breaks? Souce and bulild it yourself dude, it's not hard, worth the experence, and saves you enough money that you could build 3 machines if you wanted to.by spacexula - General
