Calibration print ok but it needs some help.

Printed this out from Thingiverse for a little testing on the printer.
Its a Makerfarm 8" i3 with a .4 Magma head printing ABS at .3 layer height. Im also using Slic3r and Pronterface to create and send the Gcode.

Im ok with the box but the small stuff and the cylinders have some issues. It also looks like it blobs when it starts a new line of filament. Its great once it gets going but starting blobs a nice drop before it goes. My retract is at 1.2mm at the moment.

I hope you all have some suggestions for me to try to get these little issues taken care of.

ABS or PLA? If it is PLA you might want to try turning your fan up/on.

Insulating the heating block on the hotend solved my hotend issues. I can now succesfully bridge a few centimeters without trouble with ABS and printing high objects works fine, however, when the high objects are very small I still have to print two copies on the sides of the printbed so the print can cool.

How did you insulate the block?
I did see a little ABS coming from the heater area so I cleaned it and tightened it back down, Do you think thats all it was? I havent had time to print another calibration print yet.
