from 0.2 to 0.3

Hi,

For first time today, I tried printing 0.3. After about 10 layers the extruder motor started skipping steps. Should I increase the hotend temperature to succeed printing with 0.3 layer height?

I increased the hotend temperature to 220°C but my the print was damn ugly. I don't know what to do now. 0.2 worked flawless. I'm printing with PLA

Thanks,
Andreas

The obvious thing to do, if the increased temp is messing up your prints, is to slow the print down. Do you have active cooling pointing at the laid-down plastic? This can help with increased temps.

Hi Andreas,
why does it start skipping at a higher level? Do you extrude to much? Does the nozzle start to scratch across the part?

If not:
check if the extruder gear is centered to the filament,
tighten the filament feed spring,
reduce print speed,
raise extruder current.

Only do one change at a time.
