Has anyone added a 2nd fan to be used as a PLA print cooling fan? I know someone designed a fan diverter to divert some of the air that blows on the heat sink for the hot end, but would it be possible to just add another fan so that you don't have to take off the diverter every time you want to print ABS?

Today's tweak. Now I can see things as I print (brightness adjustment to follow).
Yes tell me more about the light. I was just thinking I would buy a led book light and clamp it on there someplace.

I've been printing PLA on glass with purple glue stick without the heat bed. I cut my startup time by 5 to 7 minutes since I don't have to wait on the heat bed to warm up. And the prints stick very well.
I've only tried Folger Tech PLA so far. I do have Folger Tech ABS, and Hatchbox PLA and ABS to try. I may try the Folger Tech ABS tonight. What bed temp do you think I should start with for the Folger Tech ABS?
P.S. If I'm able to print the fan shroud and it works good, I'll post the files on Thingiverse.

The first few prints after I did this were stuck down so hard I thought I would never be able to remove them. Even now, with the tape really worn and scratched up, it's still working well.

I wonder how much the filaments that work well depends on the climate where you live. I am in Southern California in an area where the temperature this time of year is always 70-80F and the humidity is neither desert arid nor East Coast steamy.

This is exactly what people should NOT be doing. Yes it will work, but your also putting your printer out there on the default port for websites, so when that guy in china hits your ip when he is running a long term scan on his server array, youve now become a target. And believe me China WILL ATTACK YOU if you put anything on port 80 ever. We had a guy from china break into VM's set up to teach some basic linux courses, which he then used toattack everything on the schools network. Once they are into your network, they will attack everything on it. Everything is being attacked by China 100% of the time and I am not exadurating. The raspberry pi by default has no security measures AT ALL. Theres no firewall (iptables), your passwords are default, packages are not 100% up to date. There are a LOT of security vulnerabilities that need to be taken care of before you put it on the WWW
and Hobbes, like already said, check the soldering on the board, those fets are fine, mine were bent exactly like that. So were the fuses, I just bent them back up.

Errr, It may not have come across clear enough, but im not suggesting to open up port 80 on your router.

Anyone having extruder issues? Mine was working fine for the first few prints, but now it's making a slow (1-2 a second) rhythmic clicking sound where the filament "skips". If I hold the filament feeding into the extruder and push down, it gets a lot better but still skips occasionally (when it skips, I can feel the filament jump back up at me). The extruder is definitely not laying down all the plastic it is supposed to, I haven't had a print come out good enough to use since this started - layers aren't adhereing, walls aren't thick enough, and the print gains height slower than the z-axis rises, so i'm eventually printing in air if I let this run long enough.
On a possibly related note, I'm seeing a puddle of melted PLA forming on the top of the hot end block, as if some of the plastic is melting and bubbling upwards rather than being extruded properly. Is this normal?

I stayed up till 4 am yesterday building my 2020. I'm on page 24, at the power supply installation. Up to this point, there is no mention to how or when to tighten down all the frame screws. At the beginning it mentions that we will later, but i'm coming up to the electronics and Dan seemed to have omitted this step. When I installed the X&Z assembly, it became clear that it won't fit if i keep the frame squared off (as in, all brackets are flush with each other).
Shown in the picture
I can center out the sides and the Y belt, but I need information on where the vertical frame should be bolted down in reference to the front or the back of the base frame.

Page 6 says the rear of the vertical beam should be 900mm from the rear of the printer.
I made all the corners like you have in the picture flush. Did you make sure the blocks on the X assembly are 300mm apart? or maybe they cut the extrusions the wrong length?

SainSmart PLA - At 205C this stuff has been the best so far. Once dialed in it sticks to glass at 55C perfectly, comes out great, was exposed to high humidity for a long time and had minimal popping. My Favorite material I have worked with so far. Consistent filament diameter 1.72mm

There is a thread on the solidoodle forum about this happening to someone and the subsequent fire. Bottom line and common sense are that you shouldn't run your printer unattended.Quote

I was wondering if fire hazards need to be considered on this printer? I'm just worried that a thermistor failure on the hot end might cause thermal runaway and cause the printed extruder parts to catch fire.

thank you for pointing that out. Page 6 does in fact say 90mm from the rear. I somehow missed that.
As for the x assembly, it was, but I guess it got pulled inward when assembling the belt.

Got a link to exactly which pla from them? Amazon seems to have more than one. Any other pla recommendations? I would just get more from Folger but they seem to be out.

Pics from my original build. [imgur.com] She looks much better now! [i.imgur.com] (the green spool holder is Sainsmart green PLA i linked above. Not the hatchbox green ABS thats on the spool, the hatchbox is a lot lightert in color and looks nowhere near as good!) and I just finished printing the last peice of my custom cable chain. I will be tearing my Y axis apart tomorrow and installing a cable chain. Stay tuned for a thingiverse upload of my stl files!Quote

Anyone have some pictures of how they tidied their wires? I still have mine hanging all over because I don't want to stop printing stuff and take the time to do it but I should probably do it before I start damaging wires.
