That the ticket. I tried a few other pieces of firm and software, Found this combo the best. I was using it with regular skienforge, got somewhere but once i got the sfact plugin going on pronterface im up and running. No problems at all. No crashing which i never had before with PF with skien, but sface brought the speed and quality. Yes there are gripes. It hijacks the temp, if you set it withby 420e - General
The nozzle size and filament size has everything to do with it. The pressure of the filament pushing on the hot end pushes extruder material out of the end and thus your printing. the pressure creates a "buffer" as i call it. And that buffer melts incoming filament, while also pushing out the hot end. With out that pressure the filament runs right into the end of the hot end, and cant melt fast eby 420e - General
I have a hot end from maker gear. wades mounting with the laser cut wood holding the nozzle into the hot end with screws on the sides Go here: hot end The hot end has a grove it sits in. And there is a hole in the motor and feeder part that the nozzle fits into. It doesnt budge. 2 but getting close to 3 lbs printed. just make sure everything is tight. Hobbed bolt cleaned once. Im using PLA without a heated bed and make going looking forward to getting one. Once i do, i plan on doing some comparison prints. I find that if i can get to 5 layers in, the print stays pretty much intact. The problem is that larger prints take too long to get to 5 layers and everything cools and once reheated by the second layer, it begins to pull up. I feel certain i can get everything to sby 420e - General
Seems like a good place to start for the price. Its going to be like a makerbotstrap if you will. If your knowledgeable in electronics and general building stuff, i would recommend building one your self. I learned and am still learning. The best part is that since i built it, i noticed things i didnt like about the design and re-engineered as i built. for example the prusa design has one smoothby 420e - General
Just a thought but in control panel, you have changed stepper motor rpm to something other then 0? I have been wanting to try repg but didnt think ramps and sprinter and repg were compatible. I know ramps and sprinter are ok, im using that now with pronterface and i like it but it has its issues. As it sits now, if i select klimentkip and select control panel, i get and error code. Keep at it. I was nervous too about power, but the first time you here her move back home after a print, a great relief will pour over and you will begin to wonder what is not possible with this magnificent machine. (there isnt much!) I will admit. i burned up a pololu driver. I feel it was a right of passage lol as you will find many people, experienced or not, have burned one up. Happy printingby 420e - General
Cool man thanks. Ill have a look at that link and see whats up. -Eby 420e - General
No ahmet, i mean multiply. At first dimension was not set like you were saying but i still was not getting good numbers for anything until i activated multiply. Skein was setting negative numbers for x and y and the firmware and host software were arguing and nothing worth any value came out. But multiply set to the set of the bed, wam, everything is alive. The numbers looked good. So it was a biby 420e - General
I used traumflags method to calibrate my lolus I burned one up in an unrelated incident and got one without a sink. I thought hey let try it with out to see how hot the chip was before during and after. Well it got warm about ten minutes in and never got hotter, Print finished, temp still not hot. It all come down to how its all calibrated, and what motors your running. -Eby 420e - General Mendel Topics
I got my hot end from makergear and an really happy. Im redoing my hobbed bolt. Ill put it up here later today. My walls on my prints are uneven and i think my bolt is slightly bent. We will see.Cheers -Eby 420e - General
Thanks brnrd. I had changed that last night still a little problem with dragging. im thinking it has to be my flow rate settings. Im on the latest skeinforge and have it set to 15.0 for flow and feed. I read somewhere that the feed and flow should be close but i have also read that they dont need to be. I found that having them close and at 15 works pretty well. I have gone all the way to 30 andby 420e - General
Exactly what i was thinking there Buback. Have feed back about were the system is on the z plane with respect to the bed would be crucial. Im gonna have a crack and that bed mapping app. I didnt know about it. Imagine a laser that could give the feedback. No parts to get in the way and precise. just a thoughtby 420e - General
Cool thanks ill try slowing down the flow rate. Double check the temps, do a complete once over and see what happens. Thanks -Eby 420e - General
Good point. i like the no collision thing but that can be mitigated with a max endstop. But sounds like the way Z0 is handled there is a collision problem. Hmm more thoughts to ponder. -Eby 420e - General
are you incorporating the threads of the bolt in your new teeth? I use a piece of all thread with teeth dremeled into it with a fine cutting wheel. Ten plus hours of printing this weekend with out a jamb. I got the idea from the wiki page of the wades extruder. hope this helps -Eby 420e - General
hey thanks for the clarification. I pretty much assumed what you had clarified. Just wanted to cover all bases. Thanks -Eby 420e - General
Hey all so this weekend i set out with the goal to get as precise as i could with calibrating my prusa. I have attached a few pics of the fruits of my labors. Everything is square. There is less then a mm error in measured and predicted values for X and Y. Z i still have to measure. Are there any obvious settings i need to change? The last change i made was to the perimeter ratio because the wby 420e - General
Im going to work on the whole standards thing here. I like the prusa i have now but there are too many places that can be improved on. If i were to make every change i wanted, i would have to rebuild her anyways. Im thinking up some different designs and ideas to make it as rigid and isolated as i can. Study enough to print something out. swap out the extruder with a router and route a PCB and haby 420e - General
Hey all. Just wanted to start a little discussion on the various topics above. First i want to start with the Z end stop. Any body ever think of putting on the extruder? i was pondering the idea yesterday. But that was in bed and now this morning, watching a print, i dont think anything but the extruder should stickin down. There goes that idea, but lets leave it open cause its an interesting conby 420e - General
I have a non heated plexiglass bed covered in kapton. Im only printing PLA onit now and all i can say it wow. When printing the object stays glued but 10 minutes have the print is done, and the part has cooled, i can also just flick it off where as if i try and pull it even if its just slightly warm, i cant. well i can just have to pull and jerk and i dont like it. @john this is fun, addicting, cby 420e - General
I like PLA just for the simplicity. Sure in the future i may need higher temp stuff but sheesh. For starters PLA sticks to my kapton covered plexiglass print be with no issues. No warping or need for a heated bed. The smell of the heated plastics is not overwhelming, in fact its almost sweet. And PLA is "green" Biogeradable, made from renewable resources. Pretty cool when i had someone a prototypby 420e - General
I think the feed and flow rate are in CM. now im not 100% sure but i had mine set to 30 and 30 and was printing waaaay too fast. I also had the raised Z axis caused by not turning on multiply. The firm ware was seeing neg numbers and didnt know hoe to handle so just did what it wanted. Even if skein seems difficult, its really not. Once you get a good print, soon hopefully, take some time to playby 420e - General
Well i like pronterface because skeinforge in built in, There are quick settings which are good enough start, but fine tuning is in skeinforge. Now i have replicatorg, but had gotten my printer working until pronterface and sprinter. Also both are coded by the same group. Ill try repg some time soon. I am stickin with sprinter tho cause it works. -Eby 420e - General
Another big thing i had an issue with was the PLA i was using. I was a dummy and used the free samples that came with it Had ok results. Changed to fresh blue out of the bag and wow. No more issues, no more bubbles, or blobs If your not on good stuff, get some. Its a silly chase trying to calibrate with garbage. Also I had a little issue with lash in the Y carriage belt, Caused little gaps betweeby 420e - General
Ya know as far as frustration goes, Yeah there is a little. At times there was some hair pulling but in the end i learned a ton. @deux @Lanthan I have only been printing for 3 days, but it took a month to build. This stuff is addicting I could print for the rest of me life. But like you saying lanthan, this is much more of a hobby platform. With the exception of Makerbot and Ultimaker. But to move this whole movement forward we need to reduce the difficulty getting involved. I went through 3 firmwares before finding spriby 420e - 3D Design tools
I spent roughly 600 on all my parts. Its a prusa, i got all the printed parts, smooth rods, all-thread and electronics(assembled ramps, mega, and neam steppers) on ebay for 500 and had to by the hot end from maker gear along with some PLA. Took a month to build, working only 3 hours max on week nights after work. But i took my time for max accuracy later. As you will see, as you put it together,by 420e - General
What are you using to communicate to printer? I am ramps, sprinter and pronterface and couldnt be happier. My ramps is 1.3, i dont know if that is the same as Sang, but for me i likey. -Eby 420e - General
