So nylon is possible ?, i was wondered about that as it is a nice material to work with.by PeterArt - General
I would like to know what kind of plastics can be printed with a mendel reprap these days?by PeterArt - General
It would be nice if the forum posts had a visible sign so one could see if a question is solved or open pending, if it is a question.by PeterArt - Administration, Announcements, Policy
i was wondering, i saw a sample here of charlie plexing so you can use 5 pins to control 20 leds most stepper motors have 4 wires some 6,.. but with charlie plexing you basicly got 20 (light) switches. i was wondering maybe the leds could connect to mosfet / hexfet /..?... , and one would be able to control a lot of motors !! The control could of the engines might be done by using an arays[ ]by PeterArt - Controllers
During previous post i had trouble to login, i prefer to track this so what about using Cahrlie plexing with charlie plexing 4 digital pins is enough to control 12 leds And with 5 pins one would be able to control 20 leds like what i wonder is instead of lighting a led, how about controling a mosfet to stear a magnet inside a stepper motorby PeterArt - Controllers
I was wondering UCN 5804 seams to be a cheap stepper motor ic, do people use it here ? some info about itby PeterArt - Controllers
Well eclipse brought me back to notepad++ type editors Edtira etc, (i used many). I like an editor to be quick and small (Eclipse is huge) have code folding and to have code completion Also visual studio is huge, but the other points are better then eclipse, the startup is reasonable. If the price range is equal then having more I/O ports might be indeed better (i wonder if the PIC can directlyby PeterArt - Controllers
Well it might bring the cost down, the chip you mention requires a reasonable board, and it costs about 30 or 40 dollar ? I might be wrong here, so maybe you have cheap source for it. (do you have url ? ) For the rest i dont think its better or worse, from what i read about it may have less (but still enough) I/O ports. I've seen solderings of the pic18f even without a board i think its more basby PeterArt - Controllers
The Pic 18f4550 is a 16 bit in/out + 4 digital USB connected micro controller I was wondering a Pic18f4550 costs about 6 dollar is there active development on it ? >price > >schematic > I was reading this aperantly a main problem is there is no linux c++ interface I do not know if reprap is only for linux, or also works on windows * Aperantly it can be programmed fromby PeterArt - Controllers
the lower part of the picture is a top view, so the two axles you see there are horizontal in the same plane. The right stepper motor controls left right. The left stepper motor controls updown. (both stepper motors could be placed on one side too, but i think this is better balanced this way) Left/right speed might be a problem..although worm axles, require little force to move something wby PeterArt - Developers
On the left top i detailed the "screw gear cap" the left engine drives them on each side by a worm axle to allow for up down. The right engine drives a worm axle on which the printhead platform get its left / right (the platform is fixed to it by 2 screws (maybe one will do too).. that same platform uses a holow pipe glider around the other worm axle that is for up/down so the platform stays hoby PeterArt - Developers
I've been wondering the mendel designs based on movies i saw on how it works. And i came to wonder, and so (without having actually buid one) i'd like to give a sugestion. The up and down movements are based on long screw threaded axles (sorry dont know the right english word for that) Two of those upwards axle's are rotated trough a band system at the bottem. The printer head itself moves leftby PeterArt - Developers
Thanks for all the answers At first i thought i asked to much but all got answered, really thanks a lot The plastic water pipes heating question was because i wondered if i could make a heat exchanger. These devices are pretty costly (and also from metal) i guess they get about 80 to 90 degrees (they don't boil).by PeterArt - General New Machines Topics
I'm thinking of building a reprap, but first i have some questions. I hope some of you can answer my questions The plastic objects that are made, how strong are they ? ( like a lego brick ? or like perspex glass ?) Once finished how heat resistant is the final product, could i make parts for home central heating water pipes etc ? Would it be wise to create such parts this way or not (using tby PeterArt - General New Machines Topics
